The spoiler makes it, doesn't it? Shall I start looking into people who can do FG work? DBS might be game...for showing me how to do it safely (I've done FG work before, but never taken a mould).

I want recoup (at least most of) what I'll have put into it (not including things I'll be taking off, like the spoiler and wheels), and for the car to go to an excellent home. So yes, get saving And if you're planning to take it near a motorway at all regularly, get scouting out a B14 5 speed box. The early 4 speed with the short diff gets tedious above 60mph...and fuel economy takes a 10-15mpg hit, too.

Blu-Tac, loads of it, safe, easy to make mould. Also it was preferred method of fixing light bulb holders of rear light clusters of previous owner of my 360, well there was more in fuse box and stereo wiring too

Totally agree on the front spoiler, it transforms the look of a Mk1. Now all you need to do is lose the alloys I use the "Hercules" wheels myself with winter tyres, but on a Mk1 they do look a bit out of place.

4 steel wheels with nearly new tyres (courtesy of Herr Thhhhpaaayynetah) were fitted at Grizfest 2010 and has cured a lot of the handling/ride waywardness and vibration.

The car has just spent a week relaxing at my house as Foggy has too many cars to store at his house/his unit so it'll live here for the time being.

It has had a few things done to it, namely;

Fixing the broken window winder
Re-fixing the N/S/R window seal (it had dropped in the channel causing massive amounts of wind noise)
Replacing the passenger seatbelt clip after it exploded at Grizfest
Fitting a cigarette lighter as the old one was missing
Fixing the heater control/ashtray illumination
Gluing the door handle trims back together
New wiper blade on the drivers side, drivers one moved to passenger side, pass one binned

4 new spark plugs
Points and condensor were newish looking so were just cleaned and gapped properly
New HT leads
New LT wire to dizzy
Static timing set. Had to be retarded due to pinking on 95RON
Idle speed and mixture set on carb.
Exhaust blow sealed with Gun Gum (temporary bodge until Foggy gets his welder out)

She's now running much better than before and is basically 'nearly there'. A new parcel shelf wouldn't go amiss, nor would a pass side indicator repeater (guess who forgot to get one out of his stash of parts....!) but that's about it. To make her really nice needs a pair of new front seats, the air filter box stripping and painting and in all fairness a carb rebuild to iron out any remaining fueling issues. A 5spd box would be handy too!! As Foggy says the bodywork needs T-Cut and a polish - possibly compounding too to make it really nice, but she does have a certain patina that comes with being mostly original and old and the odd dents give her character.

I meant to ask whether they improved things - sounds like they did, it certainly looked better on the 175 wide tyres!

Updates!

Both good news and bad news I'm afraid!

Good news;

Foggy collected it from me yesterday and set off for a social call to friends before it went to the VOC Northern BKV in Wetherby today. He reports that it was running beautifully and was a much nicer car than the one he dropped off at mine a week previously. The BKV had a new judging system was in place whereby there were no judges and no defined set of rules, but everyone had to vote for their own winner and runner up in each class. Miracle of miracles it came 1st in the 300 class and actually got more than one vote for overall runner up!!

Bad news;

On the way back to mine it started to run a little rough and on getting back it was found that it was blowing by the 'new' thread insert. That makes it two that it's eaten now as this one has partially disintegrated too. Suspicion is that the insert kit is of a poor quality so Foggy plans to try a more expensive kit (like the one he used successfully on the 240) and give it one more go before calling it a day and swapping cyl heads.
