I remember having the same problem sometime ago. If I remember rightly, I simply turned the diaphragm around the other way and this stopped the problem.

The connector at the back of the instrument panel into which the speedo cable goes is screeching as it spins, try disconnecting the cable, there will be no more noise, a few drops of oil should sort it.

Have only been here since '98, so still a "blow in". Have met a few Foley's.
It's countdown to Puck so lots of mayhem to look forward to.

Well done V6 Man, I am indeed in Killorglin, I guess that you have been in one of our queues. A real pain in the a**e! As it's a national road that runs through town we reckon that some idiot sits in his office in Dublin and tries to recreate their problems down here. We'll have wheelclampers next![...

Duvel, I'm back!

Nice of you to notice my absence over the past year. I fell off my bike a year ago and broke my collarbone, by the time I returned to work I discovered that my small town had undergone changes in the name of "town planning" so we now had traffic jams, restricted parking, a one way system that has ma...

This could be way off the mark but...
Something similar happened to me, when I took the combined brake/tail light bulb out a filament had blown and created a short circuit with the other filament, new bulb and all was sorted.

Check under bonnet while the engine is running. The rubber fuel hoses can crack and then leak but you may not notice once the engine is turned off as the petrol evaporates. Very easy and cheap to fix :D

The fuse for the radio is number 12, also fuses the brake lights and the max speed on the blower, so if those are working then all is well :D

Hi Seagull, wellcome to the wonderful and wacky world of the Solex 28-34 CISAC carburettor. I've had my 340 1.7 for approx 180,000 miles so have had a few "problems" with this piece of machinery over the years. Your tale had me in stitches  and recalling the last episode of my own last year whe...

Don't worry about this, I seem to remember mine disappearing from the carb some years ago with no harm, I guess it's just a ventilation hose.

I hope that your college are understanding, if as you say that the work is done, just not finished on time then you may still get away with it, I've known it done at many colleges.
