Worn out CVT clutch - best temporary solution

Hi! My 1976 343 is suffering from a badly worn clutch; with 0.5mm shim thickness the gap between the friction plate and the flywheel is still close to 1mm and the clutch engages at about 1500rpm unloaded. In about three weeks time I'm taking the car to a show about 100km from my place - what would t...

Re: 343 -76 and 340 -87 B14 Turbo

The topic for the next day was CVT inspection to see if it was working as it should - it was soon rather apparent that it wasn't... I started by following the guide from the forum and quickly discovered that I seem to have a leaking CVT membrane. Next came testing the EMV which presented the next ch...

Re: 343 -76 and 340 -87 B14 Turbo

Things are happening again! The Swedish classic car magazine Klassiker are hosting their annual meet called "Träffpunkt" at Wenngarn castle 17/9; this year the theme is the seventies cars... What better than to get the my 1976 343 running and take a 100km trip? All decided, I rented a trailer, hitch...

Milestone! http://kurre86.com/bilder/album/2015-12-22/slides/PICT0101.JPG A few weeks ago I tried to get the 343 into my garage; after some persuasion (remove front brake pads and push!), it got comfortable on the garage floor. http://kurre86.com/bilder/album/2015-12-22/slides/PICT0112.JPG The first...

Re: 343 -76 and 340 -87 B14 Turbo

The pictures don't do the rust justice... Most of the horror is hidden underneath that centimeter thick layer of body filler! I think they might be 200 series hinges, I didn't look too closely. The car has had a roof chop and a standard 360 sunroof, all liberally coated in bodyfiller. Unfortunately ...

Re: 343 -76 and 340 -87 B14 Turbo

That's perfect, just tell me what you want for them! Last week I found a very brief ad; roughtly translated: 1977 Volvo 343, complete car broken for parts Naturally, I called immediately. The seller told me that the car was in fact far from complete, missing most of the drivetrain, bonnet, doors et....

The odometer might have been exchanged at some point in the past, I have absolutely no history on the car... Re: 343 -76 and 340 -87 B14 Turbo

Hello! What a splendid car! It's story is quite similar to that of my '76 343 DL, low mileage (59.815 €100 price) and surprisingly original as well. Only mine is fully restored and gets a new MOT next week (after 10 years finally back on the road) I do have some brown (NOS!) interior parts, so if y...
