I've always used Turtlewax tyre shine which is a mission to work it in the first time but easy after that and lasts a couple of months. Do the mirrors, grille, tyres, rubbing strips, spoiler and heater inlet on the bonnet and everything else black for maximum effect. See here for before and after ...

In my 1990 340,

Green = 12v
Red/Black = Ignition switched 12v
Brown = Earth

And a black and grey to each of the speakers.

I used tyre shine on pretty much everything black on the car, i.e. tyres, mudflaps, bumpers, rubbing strips, mirrors, spoiler, petrol cap and grille.

They are designed to break off during fitting so that they are hard for thieves to remove.

Try molegrips on them (unlikely) but if not you'll just have to cut/drill/grind through them.

Mine is missing the plastic cover from the bumper as well, do you have any left or have they gone?

The sunroof might be a difficult one to fix - if it doesn't leak and doesn't develop too much wind noise it's probably better to keep it shut ;-)
