Anyone know whats happened...

...to my old car?

Sold it a couple years ago and I believe it had changed hands a couple times in that period.

Volvo 740 £160!

Long time since I last posted but this might interest you... The car is based in outer NW London, Eastcote. Near the M25 and a tube station. We have too many cars in the household (6!) so this has to go. It must be collected before next week. 1989 F Reg Volvo 740 GLE 2.3L petrol Auto, blue with elec...

Any ideas where I can source a service manual?

The Haynes/Chilton don't cover the diesels. Do I have to resort to a VW manual?

Thanks

jtbo, that makes sense. I would have thought about 1-2 minutes of slow (20mph) driving down residential streets and then find a parking space would have the same effect after a long trip? Waste cooking is alot of hassle to filter, de-gum and remove water. Once you take into account the space require...

It's dire at tick over. Sounds like a proper tractor. No questions this is a diesel! Sounds fine when rev'ed or on the move.

Veg oil works out far cheaper at 56p a litre. This should run on atleast 90% with little to no modifications. It's just had new glow plugs so it should love the stuff. :D Pics: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2213/2370946593_d6a5405ff1.jpg Clicky for more ^ Thanks for the advice jtbo, I tend to alway...

Thanks for all the advice. I've just bought it

£1.4k. It needs a new headlight, wing mirror and the belt done but it's had a good life relatively speaking so should do me well.

It feels exceedingly fast.

I'm afraid I need something bigger than a 300

My use shouldn't cause the damage as it'll be long trips only. More worried about previous owners short trips shortening the engine life.

Lot's of nasty feedback on the web about the earlier diesels in 2/740s mentioning failures due to short journeys not allowing the oil to heat up and lubricate properly. The car I'm looking at has been used as a town run about, only 100k! According to this it's 112bhp http://www.volvo-club.cz/model_d...

Returning to the fold - 940 Diesel?

Due to various reasons I have to get a car again. A 940 diesel has sprung up near me and I'm looking at it tomorrow. It's a 1994 model, Auto (crys), 2.4L diesel. Anyone on here know about the diesel models? Are they turbo? Any information/links would be useful. I can't find anything on the web. I ne...

Of course it could suck oil into intake via crankcase ventilation when enginebrakin on high revs, that would be if piston rings would be stuck a bit. That sounds about right. It's advised to do lots of hard engine braking to bed in new close machined performance engines to 'suck' oil through to the...

Good to see you enjoyed it. I always wanted to take that car on a track day.

Those tyre pressures sound about right. I used to run them around that for spirited road driving.
