Re: 1977 343

It even has the original light switch arrangement! What a beauty.

As for this car being 'a holy grail', well, it is, apart from a true 1976 343, the closest to the original design as you can get. The brown dashboard, the DAF-style front seats, chrome mirrors, black hubcaps etc

GR8 4 WINNIN TROPHIES

Well deserved John. I'd pay money to be there and see people's faces.

A Lancia Fulvia of any kind must be a rare sight in the US too.

Re: cvt, what rpm at what speed??

The CVT Diagnostic Manual provided by volvodspec certainly can: What revs belong to which speed for a Volvo 300 CVT vehicle? 30mph @1800rpm 50km/h @ 1800 r.p.m. 40mph @2300rpm 60km/h @ 2100 r.p.m. 50mph @2900rpm 70km/h @ 2500 r.p.m. 60mph @3500rpm 80km/h @ 2900 r.p.m. 70mph @4100rpm 100km/h @ 3600 r...

Read this topic and start with "Checking the electrical section". All the information on the kickdown and brake pressure switches (both trigger the 'overrev' function) and how to check them can be found there.

Nice work Mac. The best 'how-to' on this subject I've seen so far.

Re: Cars that time forgot

The Max Roadster, a Dutch little cabriolet based on Peugeot/Citroën mechanicals. Its bodywork was made out of plastics and it was conceived to be 'modular': you could convert it into a true two-seater roadster or even a small hatchback. It was hideously expensive for such a small car however. Nice l...

Re: One more here !!

Hi Daniel and welcome! Nice to see an otherwise very basic 340 with alloy wheels and a full instrument panel. First thing to do is to check the wiring to the back of the instruments. There should be two white connectors, the speedometer cable and a small (vacuum) hose for the econometer. I see the r...

Re: 1977 Colt Sigma - Speedy's new whip

What a honey! Reminds me of how popular Mitsubishi cars once used to be, whereas now it is the worst selling Japanese brand in Europe...

I've always wondered why Mitsubishi refrained from using its own name in the UK from the start.

Re: Volvo 340 Vario Virgin

Hi Matt, Welcome to the world of 340 ownership - and welcome to the world of the variomatic as well ;) I have no diameters at the ready, but fuel pipes are not air tight and therefore useless as a replacement for vacuum pipes. Hopefully some people 'in the know' can point you in the right direction....

Re: Newbie with 340GL Vario

Have you read this topic? http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12314 There are two parts in each 'bellow' on the primary part of the transmission that can cause a vacuum leak: the diaphragm you mentioned and what the Haynes manual refers to as the 'sealing sleeve' (for lack of a...

Not sure about the fishbowl on the gearstick but I do like these obscure JDM cars. If my Gran Turismo memories don't fool me, I see a Starlet Glanza on one of the pics as well :o
