Yes, the body on all 300 series are quite the same.

In a 340, you probably have the B14, a renault 1.4L. The same engine can be found at least from a renault 5, both with turbo, and without, the 1,4 carbyturbo should fit quite easilly. One guy here at the Finnish volvo forum has done this.

The 4 and 5cyl whiteblock engines (T5 is one of theese) have a clutch diameter of 228mm. 300 series volvos with redblock's have a 215mm clutch, BUT a 228mm clutch will fit without modification, as the flywheel is the same as in BIG (200/700/900) volvo's, wich feature 228mm clutch plates.

The B14 renix units DON'T have rev limiters. I tested my B14 4E -85, and it went up to 6600rpm without a problem on the 2nd gear.

And i used the same unit on my 2,5L 16v engine, and it went well over 7krpm, and FAST. Also tested a couple other B14 units. No confirmation of the B172 units.

I got a Volvo Penta 16v engine for my project, the first thing i changed, was the 9mm con rods. I'm planning on about 350hp from the engine with turbo, and without it should have about 200. So no room for weak con rods here.

From the pic's i can say, that that belt hasn't probably been around more than 60000km. But the change interval is 80000km. But i advise you to change, if it's older than 4 years (rubber has a habit of going bad under time).

I'll be needing one of theese in next summer, or i'll have to go to 305mm wide rear tires.

Does anyone know anything how much power theese lockers can handle. The standard can handle about 250-300Nm i think
