Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Wokey, so the carb has been put back together and filled with petrol for restarting. All went great but I could not get it to idle well at all after much adjusting. A phone call to the MACster suggested that I _should_ be worried that the mixture adjustment screw had lost its rubber grommet (O-ring)...

Re: Creaking noise while turning left

Remembered I had a weird graunching sound because the garage used the jacking points, one of which bent and scraped on the rear spring!!

Re: Creaking noise while turning left

Ball joint?

Ok, so you get the noise when the steering wheel is not being turned as you turn right.

I'll keep thinking.

Wheel bearing tightness or wear?

Re: Battery connections queries

You haven't got electronic power steering by any chance? I had to connect a big red cable just like yours when I fitted the Easysteer EPS. I guess it's all standard stuff as I don't know GLT's very well at all, sorry. There's a high-pressure electric fuel pump somewhere. The big black connector whic...

Aluminium innit.

Hello, I came across a burnt out 4x4 in the woods today and it was pretty clear that the entire body was made of aluminium i.e. it had just burnt almost to cinders. The doors looked intact and a bit rusty, so they are probably steel. Is that the norm these days to make 'em out of ali ;-?

As to how it got there, I guess he fell onto his tooltray with nothing on. He blamed his wife and said he would, err, wait for it, fil...

The pictures look better on a phone. Need to get the MACster a paid photobucket account.

Always interested in old renix units which work (!!) but postage from Finland might be pricey. What numbers do you have?

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

I now have idling problems and the MACster suggested weighing the carburettor floats. Slight problem is that I'm not a drug-dealer so I don't have a precise weighing balance. However, remembering a bit of science, doesn't one ml of water weigh exactly one gram (?), so we'll do it with syringes inste...

New Year Titter

You can find this in the junk online news stories, but it shows a man in a Ukraine hospital having a metal nut removed from part of his anatomy (yes, that part)...

Re: Volvo 340 1.7 splutters and cuts out

I gather that the floats become permeable and sink in the float chamber. I would contact Born Built Beauties by e-mail and he will put you in touch with MAC. I don't know about the needles sticking in Volvo's but it definitely happens with SU carbs that have rubber-tipped needles!!

Re: Heater blower metal clips

Well, today I found 4. I can send a couple as these are my last ones but it might be worth e-mailing Dai at Classicswede in case he has a load of them. Also, it seems you can get them from Onderdelen:

Re: Volvo 340 1.7 splutters and cuts out

Since the heater blower motor is cutting out, you need to get one of these as a part-exchange of your old unit. Its a bimetallic thermal cutout which is a very common fault.

That will sort it.
