"But unfortunately I must inform you that my odometer quit
working again only after about 1000 km after the fix."
You did well - mine lasted exactly 44.6 kms!! I might try again and see if I can find why it slips.

finally had a chance to follow 360 gl's instructions, and what do you know - it worked! The whole shaft carrying the numbers had slipped out of one side, and the black drive gear no longer meshed on the worm screw which turned them. Lined it up, pushed it back in and bingo! Now I know what my fuel e...

sports air filter

Hi all, has anyone tried a K&N pod type air filter (or other sports brand) on a 360? A few people have suggested it to me, but a local volvo guy told me that the stock intake on a 360 is the same as on a 240 turbo and therefore designed for hi flow. He suggested leaving it as is. Anyone know if this...

modulating speedometer

More instrument troubles and I haven't even attacked my faulty odometer yet! Yesterday my Speedo began to modulate at around 60km/h - the needle wavers badly and indicates a speed somewhere between about 50 & 70 km/h! Unfortunately the police often check the lovely winding road to my house, so knowi...

Thanks for that. I have had the instrument panel out before chasing an intermittant fault in the dash lights (loose multiplug connector). I'll look and see if it is just the mis-located gear (when I find some time!) And BTW, you are right about the speedo cable bayonet connector breaking easily :cry...

broken odometer

Odometer (kilometre meter, in case it doesn't translate well) on my 360 is broken, but the speedo still works. I found a site from the US telling how to fix this problem on a 240 , but am unsure whether to speedo is the same on the 360. And I am not keen to pull my dash apart to discover I can't fix...

Hi VOLVOTECHCDN, gas in my A/C system is definately r134a and some extra bits were added when it was reconditioned, so I assume it has been done correctly. It does work ok usually, last time though it was 40 degrees celsius outside sm2 and I suspect most systems would have struggled a little. It did...

Well done Duvel78! And thanks for not forgetting us
non-francophones. :D
When I have done websearches on Volvo 360's all the good looking tech sites seem to be in
Dutch (?), which as a monolingual Australian leaves me lost.

Thanks everyone. I have managed to source the part from Volvo Australia, it is being shipped up from Sydney tonight. Hopefully it will fix it, as in Julios' case, because it sounds exactly the same problem. I will let you know when it is in (and working?) I did also manage to get a complete working ...

think it was 134a? - the non-ozone depleting one anyways. not sure whether it is expansion valve or orifice type - it seems to be either on or off, with a vacuum operated flap on the fan box (?) to allow recirculation. Temp adjust is via the normal sliding heater controls. Can't say how good it is c...

... I have seen on them air conditionning and I have never seen any 300 on the roads with such equipment. Anyone has it?? I have airconditioning on my '86 360 GLT - I think it was standard fitment in Australia. The owners manual has a supplement which shows the controls. The button for on and recir...

I would say LHD... Because I'm right-handed! sm48 sm61 And because I live in Europe... People in the UK or Australia will probably think differently! You're right, people in Australia do think differently! I had to drive left hand drive cars when I lived in Canada (where they never got...

360 GLT ignition system

Hi all! My first post and I'd like to say - What a great site! Even down under in Australia we have people who still enjoy Volvo 360's (we didn't get the 340's here) Question time - my '86 360 GLT is having troubles with the Renix electronic ignition system. It failed to start one day, and after muc...
