Re: 86 340 engine swap

I would expect the 172 engine may be too much for the 340 driveline, you have to be careful when driving any 300 hard, even the 1.4 can break the propshaft if you abuse it. I've broken two, the first still with the 1.4 and learnt my lesson to be careful with wheelspin after that. With the F7P I've b...

Re: Volvo 340 Rally Car *Final Reduction*

Pains me to see this not selling. If you do break it I'd be interested in quite a few of the rally bits, but I really hope it stays complete. I guess you've tried advertising it in the rally community? Can't believe somebody hasn't snapped this up absolute bargain stage/endurance rally car or stick ...

Re: 1.7 inlet manifold

I'm pretty sure I've got one, still got inlet and exhaust attached together. Bolts will need drilling out and replacing (I started drilling the bolts out but gave up as they're quite tough and I don't have any use for it). Will have a look to see if I can find it this weekend, £10 + postage at cost ...

Re: 300 series event 2014 - Nottingham - Sunday 7th Septembe

So... it's this weekend, anybody got any plans for the Saturday? I'm probably going to just do the Sunday now and won't be in the Volvo. DPG is a little poorly after its first proper night rally, sump guard brackets collapsed and sump guard wedged in the sump, alternator dead and at least one wheel ...

Re: turbo conversion to my 1.4

The Renault 5 turbo has a different port size/spacing than the B14 in the 340, so Renault manifolds will not be a straight fit. I know this because I once tried to fit a Renault 5 turbo exhaust/intake gasket to a 340.

Oil pressure gauge/sender for F7P

I'm having a problem trying to get an oil pressure gauge to work with my F7P, I think the sender may be dodgy. The sender is the standard F7P one and the gauge is a Volvo VDO 5 bar one, which I've been told should work with the Renault sender. The gauge reads low (but does move off the slightly off ...

Oil filters for F7P/F7R

My F7P is ready for an oil change, but I'm not sure what oil filter to use. From reading information on various Renault forums there doesn't seem to be a correct filter that is available anymore. From what I've read it seems the correct specification Renault filter with anti-drain is NLA (Mann 75/2)...

Re: 2014 BKV next Sunday at Hatton Country World

Was a great day last Sunday, good to meet Dai and RJ for the first time and combined with the Foggy and Farrell mobile scrapyard I think I did well to come back with (slightly) less parts than I brought! Varied selection of 300s there, with the immaculate mk3 and Sion's early mk1 that is so differen...

Volvo 340 1.4 alternator and starter £30/£20

I have an alternator for a 1.4, less than 6 months use since I bought it, still looks shiny.

It's a Valeo unit, came in a QX components box/sticker was advertised as new rather than a recon.

Purchased from ebay 26/06/10, car came off the road approx 3/11/10.

I'd like £30 + postage for it.

Re: Early (Mk1/2 ?) Bumper Bar

Mega bump! 3 years on and I'm still tripping over this in the garage, I could bring it to the BKV next weekend. It's in danger of getting chopped up and used for the metal if nobody buys it soon, which would seem a waste for a genuine part that I assume is NLA. £10 collected/taken to BKV or £20 posted

Re: DPG F7P road rally car

Been busy in the Volvo last few weeks, done two grass autotests with Loughborough Car Club, great fun sideways at walking pace and the Abingdon Carnival autosolo on Saturday, which was a really well organised event. I went down on the Friday night and camped for the early start. There's camping/beer...
