Re: Macs second hand car lot !!

Yes guys my `loved one` has reluctantly been driven away :( I had made my mind up to keep her and bring her up to concourse condition, but when I saw it was going to a loving home, and close bye :) I caved in. The irony was that all of a sudden there was two asking to buy, then low and behold , afte...

Re: 340DL 1.7 Brakes

spring 7 is low down the shoe well away from the Nylon stopper in my picture, but I can't see your picture clear enough, because when I try to expand etc your pi' it gets very blured. You will see in my picture that the Nylon stopper enters the back plate though the rubber boot where the hand brake ...

Re: 340DL 1.7 Brakes

Thanks CBA, I do have that picture, but I need to know how the `gadjet` works, ir seems so small to be doing anything at all and also there dosen't seem to be any way of securing it to anything?

340DL 1.7 Brakes

I ave been experiencing a `clunk` in the rear near side brake every morning after parking on my sloping drive when I release the brakes, they don't bind but I thought I would have a look when the bad weather had subsided. I found the leading shoe was looking quite thin, so I've decided to replace bo...

Re: 340 Headlight Relay

Ok Guys, it turns out to be the design of the `stalk` mount, you will see by the pictures that there are two screws to hold the stalk steady, but the problem is that these screws are a kind of swivel action in that if any one of them becomes loose then the switch/ stalk swivels as the arm is pulled ...

Re: 340 Headlight Relay

I now think the problem is with the switch because since I did the test with two wires Pos & Neg then returned the relay back to its holder, the main beam is now on dip; but it won't now click into main beam with the switch. I'll try and find time tomorrow to get at the switch. I'll keep you informe...

Re: 340 Headlight Relay

I did the test, though my relay numbers are quite different than those you suggested Mal, I put live to 30 and neg to S and the click sounded. Do you have any idea why the head lights won't flash or dip please.

Hi, My headlight is staying on full beam as I try to dip, or flash them. Is there any way I could test the relay off car with a multi meter at all?

No probs, regarding the Pinto engine, you might need to buy a lower temp stat to get it to kick in at the right time. I would say that approx 80ish wouldn't be a bad place to start, but some experimentation is needed, cos there's quite a temperature differential across radiators. I have tried to ge...

rad switch

Hi Pettaw. I got the new stat switch and you were right in that the deg's were stamped on the unit...87 -82 c. I'm assuming the two that have a 5 c difference is of no consiquence to the out come. So I was correct in my earlier thinking that 180 - 188 f on my dashboard dial is where the fan should k...

fan

I would just buy a new switch, they're not too expensive, about 20 quid I think. One other thing I would just give the contacts both on the switch and the connectors a good clean out. They might just be corroded. Thanks for the reply mate, But the switch is srewed into the rad and the contacts are ...

radiator ooling fan

I have volvo 340 with rad fan and I need a thermal switch replaced. The one I have seems to be `intermitant` in that when my dash indicator shows about 185 F and I tap the rad switch, it sometimes works, but not every time, I removed it and connected my multi meter to it then placed it in a cup of b...

Intermittent brake problem

:?: I've noticed that my brake vacuum assist fails, but not all that often, I suspect there's a blokage in the hard plastic pipe from the manifold. I thought I should change this pipe but not any pipe will do by the looks of the material it's made of. As you know, this pipe is quite hard. I suppose ...
