As far as i know, yes it will fit with some modification to the mounting rubbers as the 1.4 radiator is somewhat thicker than the 1.7 radiator (the 1.7 also has some less cooling capacity)

If i understand your explanation of the problem correctly, than this a quite common problem with the 360 (seen some topics about this issue), i hope you can solve this problem with help from the more experienced/technical people on this forum.
