Right rear wheel cylinder needed
Hello all... My right rear brake drum is leaking like a BP oil well. I anticipate that I'll be replacing my right rear wheel cylinder. Does anyone have record of that part number, or any cross references? Any ideas on availability? It will always be a chore trying to locate spares for a a 1978 Volvo...

My Volvo 343 DL & Richard Gere
Hello All, A few weeks ago, my Volvo 343 DL - along with my 20-year old daughter & me - were extras in a movie shoot in downtown Detroit. The film "The Double" is a spy movie, with the opening shot set in Paris, France in 1988. A Parisian street scene was created in downtown Detroit, and Richard Ger...

Re: Flasher unit
The previous owner had just patched wires into the fuse boc where the flasher unit(s) are meant to go.
So there were actually two flasher units? One for directionals, and one for 4-way emergency flashers?
Can anyone help me isolate the manufacturer and part number?
Thanks

Flasher unit
Hello, All: Keith from Detroit, Michigan with the 1978 Volvo 343 here. The directional signals ands emergency flashers in my car have never worked. It appears that a well-intended prtevious owner or mechanic (?) tried to patch in a flasher unit by running jump wires into the fuse box. Does anyone ha...

Here's the 1959 Standard Microbus. Got it running after it sat for 25+ years on an island in Lake Erie.

Volvo 343 arrives in Motown
The Volvo 343 from California & ebay has arrived. Just as the truck was picking up the car, the sellers agent called with a sob story. The car needs a starter button. I complain about the news and the timing, as my check has already been deposited. The agent then negotiated $675 US from the purchase...

VARIO neutral safety switch
Hello, Keith in Detroit, here. Just before the truck was ready to pick up the 1978 Volvo 343 in California, the seller called and said that the car needs a neutral safety switch. As this switch is inoperative to car must be shut off & restarted when shifting back and forth between drive and reverse....

Re: SPOTTED: '78 Mk1 343 in the USA
Thanks for all your greetings. A lifelong mechanic friend, and frequent employer of my son, once told me this about diagnosing & working on cars: "If you see hoof prints, think horses, not zebras." Meaning, of course, look for the obvious & logical. I ask you all to help me learn ...the parts interc...

Re: SPOTTED: '78 Mk1 343 in the USA
I work in Dearborn, and live in "Fashionable Ferndale" in the vicinity of 9-Mile & Woodward Avenue.
The car should be in Michigan by this spring. I anticipate having it shipped to Chicago, as I have a free storage opportunity there.
This is going to be fun!

Re: SPOTTED: '78 Mk1 343 in the USA
Hello, I just bought the 343 DL in California. The sale closed last evening on ebay at US $1,675. Right after sending off a check, I signed up for this forum. I'm a writer in Dearborn, Michigan for Ford Motor Company. Over the years, I've owned several PV544, 122s Amazons, 140 & 240 series Volvos, i...
