haynes manual free to good home

as title, pay only for the postage which is probably about a fiver via royal mail but will be at cost if anyone does want it. its the all editions one from 76-91 and because it was left in the sun the front cover has faded to grey. usual haynes oily thumbprints in places but all readable and presuma...

For those of you near Aldershot

I've been informed that you can have a D reg 300 from Swiftest Motors of Aldershot for just £2400 (that's two thousand four hundred pounds) I'm also told this is 'sale price' so you'd better get down there quick. You'll be doubtless amazed that this is advertised as 'low mileage' making it even more...

13" Volvo 340 Alloys

4x stock "wheel trim effect" 13" alloys for the 340. on 4 fairly good but old and probably now dangerous BF goodrich tyres. £10 or whatever and take them away from needham market, suffolk. they are cluttering up my shabby garden. can take pictures if required. they are a bit organic at the moment bu...

Re: b14.4e flywheel

seems a 29k engine would be worth keeping complete for someone possibly needing it to keep a 300 on the road. i only want it for a project engine that won't be going anywhere near a 340. but if you will be breaking the engine anyway its worth about a tenner plus postage to me - its only a project an...

Re: Is this engine running right???

Thats a pretty impressive fuel economy - i couldn't manage anything more than about 65 miles per £10 (at todays £1.20 / l) but my car usually suffered from some malady or other. choke is quite easy to adjust with a wrench and a (possibly 8mm might be smaller) socket/spanner. remove the air filter ho...

Re: b14 renovation

i was aware of that little trick. i used some bolts plus big washers spaced out with some spare sockets tightened down. its a little shabby but cost about a pound. i'm going to keep the engine (its fairly light without the head or clutter attached to it - two people can easily lift it) and build som...

Re: b14 renovation

pistons 1 and 4 (sat much lower in the bores) were in much better shape than the less exposed middle pair which puzzled me.

even so i'll get a honing drill device (unless they're useless?) and see what it ends up like.

cheers

b14 renovation

hello all, i have had a mostly complete b14 engine in my garage for a while and thought i'd find out if it would run again. sadly i used its cylinder head for my old 340 and its sat headless for about 18 months out of the rain covered with a bin liner. it was seized but after a week under hydraulic ...

Re: Engine Not Staring In Morning!

Its the Weber DIR 32 carb. there were various versions through the run of B14s with different settings.

the B14.4E 340 i had used the 109 version (with Fuel cut-off which broke....)

hope that helps

Re: Engine gasket supply

evening,

the ultraparts stuff wasn't the best of quality when i tried them sometime ago. the stem seals in particular weren't up to it. BGA kit much better - try lewisham auto electrical in kent or check BGAs distros on their website. they had quite a lot of 340 stuff.
