Thanks for the replies guys. I didnt get the one I went to look at, was a shed for £600! I'll be on the lookout for another one, found one on eBay, but would cost around £1000 to buy it and get it shipped down from York :/ Seen alot of different ways to start a car with manual choke, as said on here...

Ahh ok, my main reason to wanting to convert is that I do a lot of early morning and late night starts, and was told and auto choke would be better. I'll have to have a proper look into it then

I'm going to look at a 340 tomorrow morning, only thing that is abit off-putting is that it has a manual choke. Does anyone know how to do a conversion so its no longer a manual but an automatic one?

How sure are you that replaceing the fuel pump will fix that problem?

And with regards to the idle, does it sound lumpy, and is it just smokey due to the oil return?

Whats the lowest you would take?

As above, I am looking for a cheap Volvo 340, engine size doesn't matter and it can be modified. Am located in Portsmouth, so local is best but I can/will travel.
