1981 343 1.4 GL £1200
343 with a genuine low mileage, currently at 30,897 but may increase slightly from around town use. Orignal elderly lady owner up to around 26K miles, lots of paperwork and history to go along with the car. 1.4 engine, recently had the head whipped off for inspection and all is well, full service as...

Re: EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT PLATE?
I had a similar sounding problem but it turned out the exhaust gasket had gone on No.4 and the blowing was causing the metallic sound - possibility if the shield isn't loose!

Re: Heater control
That's what I had hoped would be the issue but unfortunately the cable actuates the arm perfectly fine when the slider is moved to either position.

Re: Heater control
Thanks macplaxton! I'll start having a scour around for that part number - see if I have any luck. But, if anyone does have one stashed that they would be willing to part with I'd happily buy it from them!

Heater control
Hey guys, In this warm weather we've been having, the wifes 343 (1981) has developed an uncomfortable issue - the heating is stuck on! Initial thought's were that the cable had broken or popped off, but no joy, it looks as though the control valve has packed up. Does anybody know where these can be ...

Re: Volvo 343 1.4 32DIR
Hey guys,
Just wanted to post back (taken a while I know!) Managed to get hold of a brand new carb for a very good price and proved to be the quicker option in interests of getting the car back on the road asap. Will however be rebuilding the old one when I get a moment!
Thanks for all the help.

Re: Volvo 343 1.4 32DIR
Mac, many thanks for the reply, I'll get the carb off and start having a proper poke around and see just exactly what's what in there and if need be order a rebuild kit, never rebuilt a carb but I'm sure I can give it a damned good shot! Thanks. My MOT man is a safe bet, been a family friend for yea...

Volvo 343 1.4 32DIR
I know this is a very cheeky first post but I will post a hello thread at a later date! The wifes '81 343 has failed it's MOT on emissions, the carb was massively overfuelling so despite being played with for hours it still ran very rich! I'm led to believe it's a Weber 32DIR (correct me if I...
