Re: 360 LSD.
Are you sure the threads are 1.25? If yes, you can use your original volvo bolts if you shorten them. Some batch(es?) was made with 1.5 thread pitch, mine did. If that's the case, here's some info on sourcing a 1.5 thread pitch m12 12.9 bolt http://www.300power.com/forum/index.php?topic=8576.msg1078...

Re: 360 LSD.
Dai, owner of classicswede bought some and they are for sale here. If there are any left I don't know! It's basically the last chance of getting this torsen diff so buy it now
His website
classicswede.co.uk
Look under 300 series and then driveline/transmission.
Good luck!

Re: Damn that blower gone again.
Thanks! I have loads of swedish green books and I found this in one of them
No idea of the schematic on top of the page, maybe it's for later cars like mine (1988)?
On the bottom left it says the schematic is for axial fans up to 1983
On the bottom right, radial fans up to 1983

Re: Damn that blower gone again.
I have a Volvo 360 (1988) Would it be possible to change the blower, only the parts in the engine bay, plastic+blower to an early type, not sure about year but say 1985? I've noticed there seems to be a difference in the no. of terminals on the resistor packs. My 1988 having 4 terminals and older un...

Isn't the hub M16x1.5?mac wrote:Hi Chris,
No, hub nuts are now NLA 15/16"AF Threaded 5/8" 18tpi. Deep stake nut.
Caliper to carrier bolts still available (gave you some at Beaulieu) but carrier to strut NLA.

What does NLA and AF stand for?

Re: 360 LSD.
Great news! So they took of material on the crown wheel, deepening it a little? I will have to measure my fly wheel to see where I'm at. I have an extra crown wheel with a damaged tooth too that I could compare with to see if they differ much.

Re: 360 LSD.
Hi, ...I have spoken to the guys who made these for me. They informed me that it should be 77.0mm they had a problem with their Lathe and these were first goods made after refurb. ... The batch I ordered from had the wrong tapped bolt threads too but that seems to have been sorted out with newer un...

Re: 360 LSD.
Great write up, I understand the procedure a lot better know. It sounds a lot harder than expected. If I have marked which shims where on left and right side respectively, and using the same crown wheel, would the preload then be determined of the torsen size in comparison with the original diff? On...

Re: 360 LSD.
Is it reasonable to think that the bearing preload will be in the ballpark as long as the backlash/gear pattern is adjusted to volvo specs? Preload is what is holding me back for trying to mount my diff, I'm too pedantic and have no experience in drive train, bad combo :) It's great that you bring u...

Re: 360 LSD.
I took my diff to a machine shop and they remove approx 2/10 mm from the diff housing in order to fit in the crown wheel. Still haven't dealt with the small distance plate, it is slightly too large in diameter, and maybe that's also why it doesn't sit flush when I put it inside the center of the cro...

Re: 360 LSD.
I got mine 5-6 months ago and that batch used M12 with 1.5 thread pitch. Original bolts are M12 fine thread meaning M12 1.25 pitch. Original bolts are readily available but M12 x 1.5 pitch is hard to find in 12.9 quality. They do exist though, so no matter what you should all be able to fit the diff...

Re: 360 LSD.
I haven't fitted mine yet but just got hold of a gearbox+diff so hopefully soon I will install it.
Just curious, do you know if the ones you have now have correct pitch (1.25) and if drive flange possibly fit better?
I sorted some 1.5 pitch 12.9 quality bolts btw.

Re: 360 LSD.
I would be interested in some specs too
Anyway, in case any future diff would come in 1.5 thread pitch you can follow progress here, we've got bolts now that hopefully will do the job

Re: 360 LSD.
Even deeper into engineering language:
DIN 6921 (1.25, 1.5 and 1.75 thread pitch)
ISO 15072 (fine thread pitch 1.25 and 1.5)
NF E 25-504-1 (fine thread pitch 1.25 and 1.5)
Wonder if 10.9 quality is good enough?

Re: 360 LSD.
Yes, but in the best of worlds it should be a partially threaded ribbed (serrated, same thing?) flange bolt, 12.9  Seems like people go crazy about securing these bolts when I googled other car builds. Also, I read upon thread pitch and it said 1.25 were less likely to shake loose. So I will tr...
