1987 340 4 door saloon with f7 hybrid and bike carbs
The times come to sell my 340 saloon and move onto playing with something else. Ive owned it 8 months or so, baught it as a 1 carefully lady owner car who (no word of a lie) used it to go to church and back. Ive done a fair bit to it since ive owned it and its a far from standard. It has covered abo...

Re: adjysting mixture
I worked it out to be 90 ish (my mile counter doesn't work) on 15 litres of fuel, so works out to be around 25mpg from a 1.7 on a solex twin choke. Getting a set of bike carbs for it soon so that should improve it hopefully

high pitch squeal from.engine bay
Sorry for all the posts and questions, but i was driving along today mindong my own business, came to a stop and all of a sudden a loud high pitch squeal started from the engine bay. I know its not the alternator belt splipping as its a completely different sound to that. My squeal.gets louder and q...

Re: 1.7 B172 Fuel Layout Help
Hmmm interesting, i knew obviously it was susceptible to heat soak, but you learn something new every day
think i might put mine on an electrical pump with a regulator then and do away with the mechanical one
plus i can put a kill switch in the car aswell

Re: 1.7 B172 Fuel Layout Help
Loose 1 & 5 and connect 3 (plus another inline filter) straight to the feed for the carb
mac, why do u need to maintain the return? My mk2 fiesta had a return but wasn't used and the pump just fed the carb. I dont see why the return is necessary myself but happy to be told otherwise.

Re: 1.4l vs 1.7l engine
Im going to make up some 600cc bike carbs to fit my 1700. depends how far u want to go, u could take the head off and have that skimmed to raise CR (talking of which, how much can u safely skim to raise the Cr?) get it ported and polished etc. exhaust manifold and system as dai said. What manifolds ...

Just run without it, you'll notice the difference in fuel aswell. Just put the pipe from the pipe *can go through another inline filter* straight to the carb.

Re: timong and mixture adjustment + other points
I took that swirl pot thing off and put the pipe straight to the carb, its improved the mpg no end. Did a few flat out runs and the gauge hardly moved (probably dodgey sender tho :L) so id say try taking it out and run inline filters instead
