Re: 240 4pod calipers, the complete and true story!

I've got a pair of refurbished solid-rotor 240 4-pots caliper weighing down a box in my room...
Once tried them on a 340 strut to see if they would fit...
My guess is it would work if you thread the holes correctly... just need a pair of nice discs to go with them.

You are mistaking the names of the parts I think (or perhaps I am). The control arm is the big arm that is mounted to the crossmember, and which holds the bottom end of the strut in place. By itself, this controlarm has very little stiffness in the horizontal direction. To accomplish a more rigid as...

IF you look at the front suspension of the volvo 360, you'll notice the tension rods going towards the rear of the car (bar mounted diagonally on the control arm) There it goes through a bracket (which is usually extremely rusted and worth replacing if that is the case) with a pair of rubber bushing...

The valving would totally suck on G40 dampers.. in a 360, about 2/3's of the cars weight is on the front wheels.. (at least, that's how it feels after you've stripped one from all interior bits). This kind of weight needs suitable damping. The 70's 121 might come closer to the 360's weight, but I do...

Frits's suggestion is the easiest way to go about it.. drill new holes for the front control arms in the subframe right at the outer edge, then weld some reinforcing plates around the holes to keep them from tearing. This gives you about 3 degrees negative camber (which is more than you would like o...

There's not much room for lowering on 15" wheels I'm afraid.. if you do any kind of spirited driving, you're likely to bottom out. Stiffer lowering springs would be recommended with that tyre size, lower profile tyres are also helpfull. Modifying the arches is really too much work just to facilitate...

sand it with uberfine sandpaper, then clearcoat it... if the surface isnt painted very well, then polishing might only make the surface duller (problem I had with my black roller-painted 360).

Damn...I have a pair of reconditioned corolla calipers lying in a box behind me here, but I disposed of the spare strutcasing I had in the basement so I cant find out anytime soon. IMHO, I like the stock volvo system better than the brakes on my corolla, but there is a difference in the level of car...

Well, I looked up the measurements, and I fear they are not suited to the 4-pots.. total diameter is 234mm as opposed to the stock 239 of the volvo.. so maybe only interesting if there are vented calipers that stay close to the original size. For those interested in the exact sizes, you can look the...

Guys, I was cleaning up my basement yesterday, and I had a look at a spare v340 strut I had lying there. Then it struck me that my toyota AE86 has exactly the same brakedisc mounting configuration, so I took one of the discs, and lo an behold, it's a direct fit! They are about the same diameter as t...

I'd vote F! Really dont know, but I have some random 205 boss and it fits just fine, save the indicator stalk which does nothing. The pity is that I cant weld anything onto the boss since it is alloy...need to get myself some MIG-brazing stuff soon. Obviously a v300 direct fitment boss is much more ...

nr's 7 and 9 all the way as far as I'm concerned, those are some of the best quality v300 pics I've ever seen.. Cant get too excited about a view of the rear window myself though.. like the italian driver in the gumball rally movie said before breaking the rear view mirror off and chucking it away: ...

Usually tacho's take their signal off the negative terminal of the ignition coil... cou can also wrap a pickup wire around the ignition cable as a coil, this will also pick up enough signal.

A while back there where some pics of a turbo'd 360 sedan from belgium on one of the v300 forums, I saw it at a trackday @Zolder circuit a few weeks ago. The thing runs a stock b200et engine and goes quite well, but I'll get on with the interesting bit. That car has the airfilter behind the righthan...

Well I wasnt finished before.. it's best to keep pics of the paintwork a bit vague since it's all done with the roller, it looks fine enough for a trackcar though  It's not really driveable with the rear wheels on though, the fenders need a lot of cutting and rewelding to make some room for th...
