I'm getting rid of some nifty seat covers...

Good for protecting the seats from children/pets/fast food or covering up worn seats.

Re: 1.7 B172 engine overheating
UPDATE: Added just under 1L of oil. The fan comes on just as the temp gauge tips past the middle and that brings it back down to pretty much dead on center. I'll do a full oil change at the weekend (Castrol Magnatec 10w40 A3/B4) as I reckon the oil inside is dead and useless. Thinking about it now i...

"TEMP, TANK, clock
... Oh yeah maybe we should put in a speedo too"
Love that colour and wish they hadn't changed the interior for the facelifts.

No you're not mad you've just got lucky to work on a car with the family history! I'd do a Shawshank crawl to get my hands on my dad's old yellow Mini Cooper. Welcome Chileno!Chileno wrote:He gave me the car a couple weeks ago and i fell in love with it.

Re: Volvo 300 dilemma + some video
Did the propshaft cost put you off? I'd love to see another drifting 340 with the F7P engine... but was the car in the video running a standard 1.7 B172 engine? I didn't think that had the guts to drift unless it's wet.

Couldn't resist uploading a photo of Ancestor showing off those bulging wind deflectors. Hoping to deal with the overheating issue http://www.volvo300mania.com/uk/forum/v ... =6&t=16741soon so I can ditch the Mini (in the background) and get this back as my daily.

1.7 B172 engine overheating
A few hours of travelling through the V3M boards and still not sure but narrowing it down. Any thoughts or ideas really welcome and thanks in advance. Here's the facts... 1. Engine temp gauge sits here when it's heated up and stays there. It didn't do this for the first 6 months of ownership with th...

Re: B172 Thermostat
So when I enter my reg number on Euro Car Parts I get given this for a thermostat... Screen Shot 2017-02-19 at 09.10.51.jpg It doesn't look right to me and from this post seen that a lot of suppliers think it's the same for the 1.4 as the 1.7 (or is it?). So I put in the details for a 1989 Renault 5...

Re: Ancestor - 1989 340 1.7 GLE
In amongst all of that I found what looks like a bodge job on some kind of oil seal/plug at the back of the engine block under the dizzy cap, right next to the hole for the lower of the 3 dizzy cap bolts. The weird pink sealant was actually used like polly filler to plug the hole but it fell out. IM...

... The throttle cable broke. Took a long time to get a replacement from Speedy Cables and I go distracted with a little trip to 'Merica... wondering if 'Salvation Mountain' will be the new rat mod style? IMG_0613 (1).jpg Was so happy when I got it running again after months of sitting on the ...

Throttle cable URGENT needed
Throttle cable is snapped I said. Recover my car to my home I said. Oh they said. We can fix that at our garage they said. Lets take it there they said. Great I said... ...One hour later: "We can't find that part anywhere". :( So I'm in urgent need of a throttle cable for a 1989 Volvo 340 1.7 or el...

Re: Ancestor - 1989 340 1.7 GLE
It's back on the road! Just got to fix my phone next and I can post updated pictures with attempts and wood effect vinyl wrap on some interior parts and hopefully a new gearstick gaiter being made by a friend who knows how to use a sewing machine. After this is little mechanical bits and bobs but pr...

Re: Front suspension knocking
Back on the road - it was exactly what Dai said. Had so much hassle getting the top nut off and on the shock strut. In the end I went for a leather belt wrapped around the shiny chrome shaft with a super tight pair of mole grips and it did the job nicely... I mean I did discover this after breaking ...
