Re: 340 christmas tree special
Thanks Ben, i will check the cabin earths some time but for now the brake lights are sorted. It was the dual element brake light bulb holder, the two brass connectors were touching. If anyone else ever has this problem check the connectors (:

Re: renault 1.4 variants
Not 100% sure either but I think you'd be correct in assuming the pistons are probably different. A 1.4 engine should be easy enough to source from people upgrading to 16v units, have you tried posting on the Facebook group? Thankyou Steve, yeah I think the pistons will be shorter. iv concluded tha...

Re: ole reliables hit self destruct
Thankyou everyone for your support, it looks like Dai has provided me with a simple solution. I would much rather drop in a 1.7 but i rekon to part it all up would cost me too much, bellhousing, carb, manifolds, clutch cable & engine mounts ect. I will ask Dai though. Wishing I had bought all this o...

Re: renault 1.4 variants
Does anyone know how the c1j's compression is lowered, is it the pistons or a plate? Im thinking the pistons may be shorter in which case the c1j is not a direct swap atall lol

Re: ole reliables hit self destruct
Heads off, carbs okay, theres big chunks outa the head just under the spark plug and a bit of washer welded onto the piston that has been mashing up against the head. Id say new engine i cant be arsed to change just the head when a pistons compromised. I was lookin at a fresh c1j engine.. but the co...

Re: ole reliables hit self destruct
As I say its only a washer thats found its way through, the three studs were in the carb ports and two washers were strewn about and the third washer is nowhere to be seen. The knock she has when running is painful. Il be taking the head off asap but shes stuck outside my place two miles from my wor...

Re: ole reliables hit self destruct
The three studs that bolt the air box to the carb, theyv been loose and iv had to put other bolts in, they came loose again unbeknown to me and a bolt n washer dropped into the carb, managed to get the bolt but the washers in there somewhere, probably mashed into the bottom of the head. I had the ro...
