If my memory is working correctly i’m still about - older, crumblier and much grumpier.

Re: Volvo 340 1.7 splutters and cuts out
Good news, i’m Glad at least one of my suggestions has “borne fruit”.
I would not refit a coarse filter on the pick up - simply fit a generic in-line filter in the fuel line to the pump in a place easy to monitor the fuel flow (use a clear plastic filter) and easy to change if it becomes blocked ...

Cornflake packet! - Get thee behind me wretched creature - surely left over wrappings from the Season of Festive Fire Hazards would suffice - and no crunchy bits in the bed to boot.

Re: Possible carb issue? Help or advice please
Thanks for suggesting it Bog dweller but I'm NOT always right!
Good suggestion - a failing/failed idle shut off valve will certainly cause idling/stalling issues but is unlikely to do this only after a hot start, recovering after a short time. There also seems to be a stale fuel issue.
Keep those ...

Anything you think I can do to help please ask - it can sometimes help for another "head" just to confirm your own diagnosis is correct.
Given time most parts can be found and I can certainly supply any of the BBB range.

Re: Possible carb issue? Help or advice please
Sounds very much like the thermostat is stuck in the open position - or missing entirely.

Or - there is very little flow through the heater matrix - check for heater valve operation, adjustment of temperature control lever, equal temperature of heater inlet and outlet hoses.

Re: Possible carb issue? Help or advice please
Hi there Bub2006, had a long chat with benji1985 last night and he's told me of your issues (he seems to think I know a little bit about carbs).
I'll make a few suggestions about what might be going on (as much from Bens description as well as your post).
There is well know situation that can ...

Re: ignition components and servicing
Interesting! I'm sure you are aware the the Renix unit produces a spark by supplying voltage (at precisely timed intervals) to the primary windings of the coil - which induces a much higher voltage to be produced by the coil's secondary windings which is grounded through the spark plug (across an ...

Re: ignition components and servicing
Hi there arpski,
If you ensure that you have 9.5 - 12.0 volts on cranking at terminal 3 of the Renix wiring plug , a good earth (0 ohm) on terminal 2 and are sure that the flywheel speed sensor is working - a no spark condition from the coil output really can only be coil or Renix unit itself.
You ...

Re: ignition components and servicing
Hi arpski,
An old topic yes, but still as relevant as ever!
You appear to have diagnosed your problem - if you are measuring 1500 ohms accross the Renix unit coil contacts it does indeed suggest a faulty unit - rare but not unknown (obviously ensure the contacts are perfectly clean).
You can ...

Hi Andrei,

Could be unseen damage - but - is far more likely to be a brake balance issue and the front brake on the repaired side is producing a different retardation force than the other.
