Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily

Interesting stuff Chris. I am hoping to do my econ gauge install on the GLT over the winter along with my ambient gauge. I should be removing the front bumper when doing the radiator and water pump as well so that is a good chance to mount the ambient sensor. I have a set of cavity covers too, quite...

Re: Oil Temperature Gauge and Sender

Thanks very much for this information Tom. I am still building up my knowledge, I assume the M18 x 1.5 is also the sump plug thread for a B200 ? I will need to keep a look out for one of these in the event I don't find a gauge and sensor together. They do seem to come up for sale now and again...som...

Oil Temperature Gauge and Sender

Bit of a long shot, one will turn up eventually... Anyone have a matching oil temp gauge and the correct sender for a B200 to fill the void so to speak... I would be interested in either or both if you have such a thing spare. Hoping to install these over the winter, along with an oil change ...

Re: Brake Hoses

Nearly done with the brakes now...bleeding them tomorrow and will see how it goes.... Thanks for the tip on the stake nuts, will look into that in due course, might keep an eye out for a couple of bearing kits with nuts to have handy. Surprising the range of NOS parts that appear on Ebay for the 300...

Re: Brake Hoses

I've been gradually working round the brakes on the 360...enjoyable learning curve for sure... Started with the rears and have ended up replacing everything, even sourcing new drums. Been very lucky so far, no snapped pipes and everything coming apart fairly well. Been using a freeze spray along wit...

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily

Thanks Chris, yeah let me know if you happen to find or hear of a temp gauge, be nice to complete the pair. Lots of interesting mechanisms in the old stationary engines I tinker with, particularly the hit and miss governor systems... 3D printing is something I have never really looked into bu...

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily

Great read Chris, interesting to see some ingenious 3D printing design. I had the same thought about my phone mount while thinking about using one of those magnetic air vent clips, don't fancy it. I already have the top vent surround to replace where the hazard warning switch clips in, snapped top a...

Re: '85 360 GLS

Thanks Steve, Great minds think alike, I had already bought those handbrake spring pliers you recommended which came in very handy. I can see those being a pain to re-fit without those. I happened to notice last week Toolstation had a deal on some decent long nose vice grips and figured they would b...

Re: '85 360 GLS

Good news Steve...! Seems like your GLT is in demand !! I am in the middle of my rear brakes as well. New shoes (old stock Volvo!), cylinders, springs and hose.... The drums are serviceable but I was trying to find somewhere to skim them to get rid of the wear lip but seems to be a lost art these da...

Re: '85 360 GLS

Hi Steve, Yeah that tank was pretty grotty inside, good plan that you have swapped it out. I think modern fuel doesn't help, the ethanol content promotes water absorption and condensation = rust.... I use a fuel stabiliser over the winter and will be filling the tank to the brim and adding stabilise...

Re: '85 360 GLS

Looks excellent! Like the wheels....hopefully I have a set coming my way in due course for the GLT...
I'm sure it will pass the MOT no trouble, looks a very well looked car :)
I expect it will be a rather nice to drive with the carb engine compared to the LE injection.
Cheers Dave

Re: 360 B200E runs bad and backfires

Sorry I can't advise on whether a 700 series regulator is the same. Checking Ebay just now there are brand new Lucas and SMPE regulators available for around £28, a good price I would say. I have to pass on credit to others on here who put me onto the fuel pressure regulator, now I am just passing o...

Re: 360 B200E runs bad and backfires

As I was reading your post I immediately thought of the fuel pressure regulator, and then you mentioned fuel in the vacuum line. I had similar bad running and poor starting after a run (say 15 - 30 mins after stopping, restarting would take a bit of turning over). The car also shuddered around 2500 ...

Re: Sluggish Starting after a run

Will check that out too Jon. The guy who had the car before me had to 'free off' all the brakes and not sure how good a job was done. Once you get a sticky cylinder I think it is best to replace or overhaul. Some of the jobs that I would have deemed essential weren't done, where other items were don...
