Re: Welding Precautions...?

Hi, The 360 with B200 engine uses the Bosch LE Jetronic management system which has an ECU (of sorts) located behind the centre console area. Ignition is still taken care of by the Renix unit and flywheel sensor. If you haven't noticed, in this forum under the Technical Resources section / Green boo...

Re: Drive shaft

Have a look on the Volvo 300 Facebook group, there are a couple of guys on there who have a lot of parts available.
Dai @ Classic Swede is also likely to have what you need.

Re: glueing rubber on body paintwork

Car bodywork trim tape is what you need. I got some on Ebay recently to re-do one of my boot badges. As Steve says make sure all surfaces are clean and carefully remove any residue. I think I used some methylated spirit sparingly, on a clean rag, to degrease both surfaces.

Welding Precautions...?

Hi All, Been a while lol I'm in discussion with a local custom exhaust company (new SS system 8) ) and it crossed my mind if they are doing any tack/completion welds with a new system on the car, are there any precautions needed to protect the ECU, Renix etc on my 360 ? I assume disconnecting the ba...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Hi Jon, Its a bit late for me to be wishing happy new year now, hope all is well, I've been a bit quiet of late. 8) The 360 is still on SORN for another month or so, it will either be brought out 1st March or 1st April, will see what happens... A few jobs planned and hopefully nothing unexpected wil...

Re: 343 GL

Hi, Good luck with the project, quite a rare survivor these early models I believe. I like the front end on the 343's. Should be insurance friendly if kept standard and tidied up/recommissioned. This forum is a great source of searchable information. There is a FB group for the 300s, but you have to...

Re: Potential mayor damage to engine - really need help

Sad to hear of this potential damage to your car.
Sounds like they have been revving the engine severely and with the clutch cable damaged, maybe abusing the clutch doing spins etc.
Keep us posted with your findings, all the best.

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Hi Jon, Not had a chance to be on of late, just checking in, looks like you have been busy on the fleet! Keep up the good work. :D I've not done many miles of late, too busy with other stuff going on. My daily Skoda SUperb has needed 4 x new tyres and discs and pads all round so that has dented the ...

Re: Leaded or unleaded?

Like everything these days, all the 'good stuff?' that used to be in things like paints and fuels are gone and replaced with environmentally friendly alternatives that cause numerous other problems. I am trying to only use E5 in my 360 to minimise ethanol content that plays havoc with fuel lines etc...

Re: Steering Vibration Damper

Hi, really not sure, best thing to do would be to have a close inspection of the part. What model is your 300 ? Mine is non-power steering and this is the standard set up, I believe power assisted is different. As far as I know they are designed to fail safe but you will get excessive wheel movement...

Re: Steering Vibration Damper

Thanks Steve / Jon. Definitely seemed like a worthwhile job. Jon - I had totally forgotten the heat shield was missing until you mentioned. Seems like it has been missing for a long time. Didn't look like the coupling had been replaced before but you never know... I should probably find a spare and ...

Drop link replacement

Second small job this weekend which was way easier than the steering coupling... I was getting a worsening creaking from the front end, at MOT the drop links were scrutinised, no play but the joints appeared siezed/tight. I happened to have picked up a pair of new stock links last year so I got them...
