Re: 1986 340 GL Free for spares

im not responsible for ALL the dents, by the way!
if youve got any questions on the condition of any bits, let me know and i might be able to advise; for instance, the radiator steams like a swedish sauna, so i wouldnt bother with that!

1986 340 GL Free for spares

Well, thats it, my 340 has finally died; :( Failed MOT, the bottoms all rotten, needs £450 worth of welding. Anyway, if anyone wants it for spares, they can have it for free, just needs collecting; tax runs out 31st of march, and cos mot is gone, i guess youre only allowed to drive it to a garage, s...

Re: Help! Welding needed

aye, its been in teh family for about 16 years now, so im pretty attached, but i think its time to let go! i'd like to donate it for spares for the common good (if theres anything worth salvaging!), but not sure of the best way; ive nowhere to store it myself, is there somewhere 340s go to when they...

Re: Help! Welding needed

Re: Help! Welding needed

hi classic swede, i just spoke to teh garage, and it sounds pretty terminal, he said it was a LOT of welding; theres the exhaust mounting and offside seat belt anchorage, which doesnt sound too much, but also pretty much the whole of the rear suspension ("rear suspension component mounting"), by the...

Re: Help! Welding needed

hi, cant remember exactly what needed doing, as told me over phone, but it sounded quite a bit! think it was front suspension (both sides), something to do with the seat belt (?) and something to hold the exhaust on; i should probably be able to phone them tomorrow to find out though(on a rig at the...

You can make a restrictor from a piece of plastic tubing that has a 0.1 inch hole and is a push fit in the rubber hose. You can block the rubber hose completely temporarily but you will have a rich idle mixture maybe sooting up the plugs eventually. best luck , Steve -is that the hose leading from ...

true- so many pipes!......
car does run well, though, so maybe im best not fiddling for now, though it might help fuel efficiency. -whats a typical mpg/ fuel usage for a 1986 1.4 petrol? i get about 145 miles for 20 litres.
-maybe we should run a competition to see whos got the least thirsty 340!
