Just quick thanks for the advice. Changed the exhaust front pipe today and could see where the blow had been coming from, around the bell of the front pipe which attached to the manifold - so thankfully not the manifold.

Thanks for both replies. I've already removed the plate - was a bit of a problem to get at the head of the bolts that go through the tank straps but after slackening straps all done now.

Will get the hose and clips as suggested and get the car back on the road.
