Another Stolen car

My silver Redline was taken from a layby just outside Swansea yesterday - F335 KHJ - got back to find glass all over road and car gone. Had a steering wheel lock on it as well so someone was very determined. Can't think why someone would want to nick a 20 year old car, unless the alloys appealed for...

Thanks for the advice - Switch was intermittent and so I did a trawl of the forum and found all the heater threads. Spent a Saturday stripping down the heater box only to find after doing so that moving the wires going to the actual motor made or broke a circuit and it worked or didn't. Direct feed ...

Heater Motor Please

Hi, I'm after a heater motor for a F plate 340 1.7. Dont need the fan from within the heater box unless they are paired with a particular type of motor? I'd also appreciate the hose that goes from the heater box to the motor hub if it's available. Mine has a poor connection on the brown lead into th...

Just quick thanks for the advice. Changed the exhaust front pipe today and could see where the blow had been coming from, around the bell of the front pipe which attached to the manifold - so thankfully not the manifold.

Just like to say thanks for the advice - it's been a while since I asked the question but had a day to work on the car today and the heat worked. Release fluid followed by a gas blow torch, lots of heat and plenty of release fluid application in between heating sessions. Smoke from hot fluid was imp...

Blowing Noise - where to look?

On a 340 1.7 1988 vintage. I've got a blowing noise in the engine compartment area. It's from the manifold side I think but I don't know where.I've checked exhaust manifold to exhaust by trying to feel blowing and wrapped it in cloth but noise is still there. So I'm assuming it's not that. Tried loo...

Yes it is - Bought from Ebay about a fortnight ago. Brought back to Swansea from a village just outside Warrington. Originally an Essex car - Rayleigh. 83K on clock 1988 on an F plate - and just going for MOT - needs tuning for emissions and headlights beam set as I've had to change both as they wer...

Document Wallet

Has anyone got a spare document wallet that is normally kept in the glove box suitable for a 1988 340? I've got the original drivers handbook that came with the car but would like a wallet or folder to put it in. Seem to remember that they were blue plastic with transparent pockets to put the handbo...

Differences in Rear light clusters?

Anyone explain please? On some of the pictures of members cars in the gallery the rear light cluster seems to have a sloping reversing light lens fitted in the cluster - on others the reversing lens seems to blend in line across the top and facing with the rest of the lenses. From trawling around th...

Track Rod End - How do I free it up?

Any tricks tips or pointers would be useful please. Took my 1988 340 GL for tracking last week and they could not do it as the drivers side track rod appears to have seized in the track rod end. I've tried all things today to free it - slackened lock nut off and pushed, pulled and squirted and bange...

Thanks for both replies. I've already removed the plate - was a bit of a problem to get at the head of the bolts that go through the tank straps but after slackening straps all done now.

Will get the hose and clips as suggested and get the car back on the road.
