Yes, I put the car up on axle stands and wire brushed the underneath then applied a coat of Waxoyl using a paintbrush. The entire floorpan and wheel arches got this treatment. That combined with Waxoyl in the cavities should pretty much ensure no rusting over the winter.

OK, this is strange. AMR's post prompted me to get a torch and have a proper poke around the electrics under the bonnet. I popped the bonnet, started the car and the heater came on straight away. :? They don't cut out if they get to hot and come on again when they cool down, do they? The alternator ...
