That car's come a long way in a short time - nice one.

Re: 300 parts still available at Volvo
I hadn't thought of that - there's always the option of welding in a UJ from a PAS V300, or indeed any other steering column you can find in the scrapyard. This part is basically a consumable - if we're going to keep these cars on the road we need to start thinking creatively.

Re: 300 parts still available at Volvo
I reckon a solid plate in place of the rubber wouldn't be a bad idea. The PAS cars have a solid linkage - you might get a bit of vibration through the wheel, but possibly more driver feedback.

Been busy - test will come, but don't have time to prep it myself - so off to an honest garage to have the wheel bearing and welding done hopefully next week. No tax and my insurance has expired so I can't put any on either.

Re: Hello
To be honest, I have to disagree with Tom on the service history count. These cars soak up all sorts of abuse anyway, and at this vintage I'm more interested in how a car drives and feels than stacks of papers. Very few cars are officially non-interferance, but people have lost redblock cambelts and...

Re: Are all 360glt's injection?
I was of the impression that you also needed to swap the bottom cross-member to convert to PAS. Mk3 top mounts deteriorate and lead to heavy steering - my Mk2 is still really light in the hand 25 years later and I wouldn't have it any other way. I think Dai does new top mounts to correct this. Might...

Re: Are all 360glt's injection?
There are two engines in a UK spec 360. The change over happened some time in 1985 - before then is the B19 - the E stands for fuel injected. The later engine is the B200 which was a "low friction" unit. Both engines are very similar, both look the same but with a metal coloured rocker cover on the ...

If you're only 16 then don't worry too much about lowering it - just get it solid and reliable and clean looking. Wait til you pass your test before you get modding.

Re: Hello
Check the steering damper if your steering feels vague - I've changed one on every V300 I've owned (3) and it's pretty easy and cheap. Also, HT leads often need renewed. Choose Bougicord for OEM goodness. Fit a new cap and rotor while you're at it. New shocks will likely transform your handling. Gas...

Check this thread:

V300 rear shocks have a stud, while most common shocks have an eye - Ali simply made a bracket to take the eye and locate it to a stud. Helps if you're handy with a welder.

Car is in Inverness, scottish highland. Has rust under the battery which will be welded for MOT. Also rust to nearside front wing near the bottom which may or may not be repaired. A few specks here and there - will try to get pics up soon.
