Re: Project T5 360.
A GT28 running relatively low boost is a good choice...less torque to kill the drivetrain, but a healthy sized hotside to still flow well at high RPM. cheers James Yeah, if I do decide to go for more power later down the track with a rebuilt transmission and all that then I'll need to upgrade, but ...

Re: Project T5 360.
Just a quick update. The crank pulley is still in :( BUT we started pulling the pistons out, the crank end bearings are well scored, no pictures yet but I'll get some tomorrow or next week sometime. Found out a garrett GT3076R is $1350 AUD, but a guy I met on Thursday has got a twin turbo kit for a ...

Re: Project T5 360.
Yeah I think we should have something at work. I'm taking the block in on monday to get the crank pulley off so I can ask then.foggyjames wrote:Fair point about the seals. If you do take them off, you'll need to buy / make a cam locking tool, then re-time them once they're back in the head.
cheers

Re: Project T5 360.
Yeah I probably won't need to, just clean everything up and replace seals and bearings. Just thought dad would make me remove 'em as usual.foggyjames wrote:Do you need to remove the cam gears? They're adjustable, and it'll be timed up at present...so I'd not touch them unless you have to.

Re: Project T5 360.
The crank pulleys are a real bastard on those. You can get a redblock one off quite easily, but a whiteblock one is a problem without a counterhold or an impact gun. cheers James Yeah we got the flywheel off and tried to hold it with a crowbar on 1 bolt from that side but it would just slip. On ano...

Re: Project T5 360.
Great to hear you've been able to make a step in the right direction :) cheers James Yeah, got the sump off on the weekend. Taking off flywheel this weekend but I don't think I'll be able to get the crank pulley off since I don't have an impact gun at home! I'll see if we can work something out, th...

Re: Project T5 360.
Not necessarily. Compression is usually determined by the pistons on redblocks. I believe we CC'd a 530 and 531 chamber a while, and concluded they were pretty much identical in capacity (albeit a slightly different shape). There's not much difference...if you had both sat side by side in identical...

Re: Project T5 360.
The cam pulley was 180 degrees out somehow, but the engine hadn't seized up so too bad.filthyjohn wrote:It'll fit but the 531 is slightly superior.
The reason I wanted to chuck on the head from the 360 was 'cause wouldn't it give better compression?

Re: Project T5 360.
That diff will go in a 300 casing but you need custom bearing retainers made and custom drive cups. Adam Yeah, no way of fitting it into the 360? I really don't want to have to weld the diff 'cause sliding into every corner isn't exactly what I want. EDIT: sorry I misread. It's fairly bigger than t...

Re: Project T5 360.
Haha yeah funny that, 'cause it's out of a 240 if I remember right and supposedly it was straight fit so how did they manage to get a 240 diff into a 360 with just a bit of grinding on the bolts :S Anyways today we got in a 940gle (I think) with a buggered engine (B230FB) so IF the guy doesn't want ...

Re: Project T5 360.
Ok guys. Got my new diff on last Friday :) http://i750.photobucket.com/albums/xx146/jere_aka_ld50/pics/001-1.jpg Been a busy 2 weeks but I had her in the workshop on Saturday and managed to pull the diff out... Results, as expected. Now I have a few months to figure out what to do and if it's even p...

Re: Project T5 360.
Bad day.. I changed the clutch master cylinder in my daily driver today and realized I had no DOT3 fluid so I had to take the 360 to go get some.. Turns out they're not open 7 days a week so no fluid and when I got home the Volvo started pissing out coolant  . Now I have no car on the road and...

Re: Project T5 360.
Yeah that's it.. There was what looked like wear from rubbing in the casing but it was never actually proven to run. I suppose I could give it a go and if it doesn't fit I can just move it on or hang onto it for when I start doing the corona up since the USD is pretty much equal to the AUD it's only...

Re: Project T5 360.
I've seen a 240 limited slip in a 360 but the bolts were grinded all the way down that's why I was wondering since the G80 fits 240s and the guy who's selling them says they fit "all" rear wheel volvo models.

Re: Project T5 360.
Ah yeah the harnesses usually are a pain. I'm not sure what's happening with the engine that's why I haven't put it into pieces yet. I'm going to give them a call on Saturday to find out... They don't have a ECU for a T5 anyways. I'm just wondering though, has anyone tried to fit one of those Eaton ...
