Re: 360 carby fuel supply

I need to type all of this in to keep a record of all the bellendian things I am doing and to help plan ahead. Anyway, here is a screenshot from the Borg Warner BW35 manual which shows what's involved. Note, that I don't agree with point number 2 but everything else in the picture summarises the sta...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Right, so here we go with more bulletins from the bleeding edge of bellendiana ;-0 ;-0 Have you got a problem, Jon? Yes, the thought of my broken parking pawl is giving me many issues, so today I started to take apart my donor Borg Warner 35 autobox which has been under tarpaulins for 20 years by th...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

The rover is back together and working fine. Slight problem is that when the garage broke the brake pipe last year and left the car on the street for weeks, I decided to put it back into storage to sort everything myself and I apparently broke the parking brake at that point. The car had no brakes s...

Re: Leaded or unleaded?

My 1.7 has been fine on E10 and the 360 runs OK on it, too, but the mixture for the latter car is a bit strong at the moment so the toxic gas emissions are fairly badly sh*te. I think, probably wrongly, it's all the aromatics they put in unleaded petrol to compensate for the lack of lead. Oh, we did...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

A completely automotively mental weekend. The rear brakes on the P5 were reassembled and the blue 1.7 strut nut tightened, as was the handbrake cable. A bit more waxoyling done on the latter car, too. https://u.cubeupload.com/jbcooper/16556781828329.jpg https://u.cubeupload.com/jbcooper/165567818247...

Re: Anyone who has any definite answer on the clutch/prop/transmission grind?

On my 360 I have been getting a whirring noise when I press in the clutch. Probably release bearing? Years ago my 1.4 permanently rattled at the traffic lights due to the spinning prop. It could be stopped by adjusting the idle speed but I was told after selling the car that it was probably due to w...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Bit of a delay on the 340 work but the renewing of the seals on the Rover P5B rear brake cylinders has progressed to this stage.

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Today, the exhaust was tightened up a bit and the sills and front wheel arches given a bit of waxoyl. The plan was then to do an oil change but a look at my notes showed that the last one was done only 4k miles ago, so that can wait for another year! However, the distributor cap was removed and give...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Well, the plan was that I would run the old rear exhaust silencer for a few more weeks to get every last bit of life out of it but on actually looking at it and seeing its chronic state, I decided that it would just be better to fit the new one. I tried to get an econo-one from ebay, as usual, but c...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Yo! It's back together and running. The thin back-plate for the disk was given a bit of straightening and the wheel refitted. https://u.cubeupload.com/jbcooper/16545501854800.jpg Still need to set the tracking and look for anything that might be causing an annoying knock on slight bumps which has ju...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

The caliper's back on now and torqued-up. From my photos it seems that one of the sliding caliper nuts with a rubber boot went missing before it was posted i.e. I can't blame the postman. I'm obviously getting to be old and rubbish and losing everything. Still, must be very careful about this in fut...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Yes, it was a high-stress day. The speedometer cable definitely wouldn't go back into its hole despite grease, graphite dust, using heat to soften the plastic and all the strength I could gather. https://u.cubeupload.com/jbcooper/16542754642811.jpg https://u.cubeupload.com/jbcooper/16542753767711.jp...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Torque it up, baby. https://u.cubeupload.com/jbcooper/16541879975396.jpg Well, the suspension nuts and bolts were set to 40+ lbft as pacified in the Hades manual, but I couldn't push that hard, hold the phone and press the shutter all at the same time, so the piccy doesn't show the right torque. htt...

Re: 360 carby fuel supply

Almost back together, as in tightened up but not torqued up, bar the main ball joint crennelated nut which broke. My substitute nyloc one doesn't seem to have the right thread. Work in progress on that front. https://u.cubeupload.com/jbcooper/16539280773680.jpg https://u.cubeupload.com/jbcooper/1653...
