Re: '85 360 GLS

Well after a slight adjustment issue with one of the rear brakes, it's all MOT'd again and I've been using it. Drives very nicely and lots of torque! The taller diff makes these way more relaxed at high speed compared to the GLT!

I reckon with the metal reinfoced strip along the bottom you should be fine for the forseeable!

Re: Fuel Hose Specs - Modern Fuels

Thanks Jon, I thought about string/tape combo but decided just to leave well alone at the moment. The hoses are in decent condition albeit original, so I will save that joy for another day. Got the pump install finished today, seems to be working well with the new filter arrangement. Will see if sh...

Re: '85 360 GLS

Cheers Dave! I dreaded it too but just had to be done, but it'll explain the time it's taken - a combination of being daunted and having limited facilities too. Don't think I'd ever recommend anyone to do it on the garage floor

Re: '85 360 GLS

Anyone still following this, after various methods of investigation and a bit of trial and error, the rotational noise I mentioned when driving the car last year turned out to be the differential :o So managed to source a spare from a 360 GLE so as to keep the taller-than-GLT final drive ratio. It's...

Re: Is anyone still alive ;-?

Very sad news, Mac was a hell of a character and a wealth of knowledge - he's helped me out no end over the years with various 300's and I've learnt a lot from from him too. RIP.

Re: Power Steering Cranking Noise

Hmm in that case I think the next step would be to try and replicate the noise with the power steering belt removed, that would rule out anything to do with the pump and pinpoint it to either parts of the rack assembly or column. If you can replicate it reliably see if you can record a video of the ...

Re: Can't change gear

The gauge cluster does actually fit through the steering wheel at the straight ahead position, but removing it does give you a lot more room!

Looks good bog!

Re: Power Steering Cranking Noise

Probably a good idea to change the fluid if it's that colour, but the noise might well be the suspension strut top mounts - they can get noisy after a time, especially on 360's with the heavier engines.

Re: 1986 360 GLEi SE restoration and turboing

Nicely done, that tank wasn't *that* bad in the end... my GLS one was much worse!

It would be possible to remove the tank and coat the internals but I can't imagine this is particularly easy going due to the shape of the 360 tank and the fact the injection tank has a swirl pot built in.
