Re: B14 Cam upgrades

If you're a bit broke, then don't put money into a car for only a mild improvement - just get the carb back in tune (though it wasn't long ago when chris and I had it running really nicely iirc)... face it, the 1.4 will never be a powerhouse and unless you have the pennies then trying to create a po...

Re: whats ti worth then.

i can keep it forever, but im sick of spending £30 here £30 there on starter motors that dont work, who knows i could change the flywheel to the spare i have and well it might carry on with the same problem! or it might not, but i think ive come to my tethers end! I don't see why you are having so ...

Re: Another one..

I have a D cam and an H cam, though the price would have to be right for the H-cam as it was hard to track down for a sensible price (I got it when the US-UK exchange rate was massively in our favour) and I wouldn't want to do it again.

Re: First car iv owned thats not a ford

Have any of you actualy tried to squash the roof down of a 300? It takes one hell of a lot of doing. One corner will support the weight of a JCB! totally different thing, you are loading the roof statically... the impulsive force on the roof from flipping a car will be much higher than you think (a...

Re: First car iv owned thats not a ford

a guy in our motorclub rolled his bmw and got smacked in the head by the roof sufficiently hard to knock him out... it came down a very very long way! - I don't really have a proper opinion on it either, it just seems to me that you should either run all or nothing with regard to harnesses and cages...

Re: First car iv owned thats not a ford

In a road car, the seat can be broken in two, as chris says, and also the seatbelt allows a large degree of movement. So in the very unlucky event of rolling the car then you have a better chance of avoiding the roof as it comes in towards your head! A "proper" (and by this I mean FIA spec or better...

Re: My first motorsport trophy :D

Nah... Rich set the event so me and another driver got together. Being the non navigating type, we saw a white road (white on OS map, what the landy boys would call a green lane) that we thought was on the route (it had been cut out the route after the scouting landy took 15mins to get along it...)...

Re: First car iv owned thats not a ford

tbh I didn't even look at the pics of the car, but yes, harnesses and buckets without a cage are a very bad idea imho. @sven, more like abusing snails with a grinder at the minute :( - turns out those french dinky toys are a bit fragile! - bottomed out the rear suspension in a brisk encounter with a...

Re: First car iv owned thats not a ford

Yep, if the harnesses don't come with a cross buckle already fitted (which some 4 points do) then don't cross them.. I also echo the rear strut brace bit, harness bars are the optimum solution but a strut brace is not a harness bar. Though if you find a rear "strut brace" fitted to a 300 then I woul...

Re: Volvo t5

I thought you collected parts, to leave it all on the driveway for 18months to rust?? At least I drive the car whilst collecting  Hehe, the volvo would have all the parts fitted if it wasn't for the ridiculous cost to get a cage back when I was deciding what car to rally/build for fun...(how w...

Re: Volvo t5

sorry dai, I've never met the guy before so I have no idea what his thought process is when building a car.... but based on what many people do(though often fail to do) which is stick in a massive engine without doing anything to the rest of the car I was making a general statement about the limits ...
