Re: '82 343 DLS with a fixed alternator
yes it's much easyer on the later versions, luckaly it's an easy retrofit, though many of the later style tensioners have the adjusting bolt rusted rock solid wich is why i did it slightly different for my B230 engine that's in the 343.. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b192/levibaantjer/bucket%202...

Re: '82 343 DLS with an alternator problem
i doubt that's the original alternator, this looks like a later model with the voltage regulator built in. that housing is definatly cracked though, only reason for it to crack there and with the bearing cover coming off is a poor rebuild job (not pressing in the bearing correctly or with excessive ...

no contact breaker points, it's actually quite similar to the renix system but has a hall effect sensor in the distributor instead of a flywheel pickup

Re: vario advice needed
never just swap a tacho out on it's own, often it's the diode in the EMV valve that's broken, in some cases this can lead to a direct failure of the end transistor in the tacho even if you fit another one.
get yourself a transistor and diode, replace them together and try again.

Re: Me and my '76 343 DL
fuel sender doesn't have the same values, have the same problem with my '84 340 winner (Smith clockset, later VDO sender and fuel tank, but should be older style Smith sender) and also the fuel tanks after '80 are different; shorter breather pipe that was introduced because of the overflow tank in t...

r u serious? do you have the drawings for the pistons or just lucky guessing with a caliper gauge. i strongly advise you not to make these yourself, and definatly not from stainless steel. in a caliper that is designed to go with stainless pistons ok but these aren't and who can tell they won't lock...

Re: Problems with CVT. Please help
First valve have potential (14.4 when engine working). that's the problem there can only be 1 solenoid active in this system, because the first valve is activated the second valve will never be. this first valve is for the kickdown, so you will probably experience very high rpm at any speed. for di...

Re: carb to injection
the 7-pin relay is bolted to the AMM bracket, that's the main EFI relay as it switches both the fuel pump and injectors
foglight relay is indeed bolted/strapped near the small fusebox, and is a 4-pin relay

Re: carb to injection
you don't have to remove the cilinderhead for that, just unbolt the waterpump from the engine
waterpump seal kits are easaly available and include the rubber O-ring for the heater pipe, the gasket for the pump housing to the engine and the larger O-ring for the cilinder head seal
