Re: Leaf Spings
They are both closed round the bush,it just seems that there are two different types.I've also noticed this on pics of other peoples cars.I should really take some pictures.

Re: No 300 series anymore in France :-(
82 puts it near where my parents live.Tarn et Garonne. Chances are that it will be kept as is coz space is not a premium there.I'm in NZ but if you're happy to let me know where it is I might be able to get more pics or info.My dad likes visiting the scrapyards in the area just to see whats new.

Re: Brake disks 101
1,You must have the drums on when bleeding breaks. 2,You should do the one furthest from the master cylinder/reservoir first and work your way towards it. 3,Dont remove the front calipers to bleed them. We all make mistakes and we learn from them.As I'm sure that you will never do this again. What yo...

Re: Been Tinkering
I have a bottom VW ball joint fitted to a Volvo bottom arm.I now need to take a trip to my local scrappy where my wifes old Golf is languishing.I will remove the turrets so that I can salvage the mounting cups. Then I will see how the cups can be fitted to the Volvo turrets.A third option could also ...

Not really, fairly bomb proof.Check that the clutch is ok as its quite a job to do.Other than that just check for rust an the usual stuff that goes with buying an old(ish) car.

Re: Been Tinkering
Use the vw bottom ball joint (if the volvo one doesn't fit.I've not tried it yet)and the volvo track rod end fits the vw hub.As for the speedo cable, the golf hub is a front wheel drive unit so there is access to the rotation for the cable.

Re: Been Tinkering
The stiffness will depend on how you go about it.Original volvo inserts dont fit into the vw units but the monroe inserts for the volvo do.Make the vw spring retaining cup fit over the insert then the volvo topmount and bearing will bolt to the top of that. The downfall of doing it this way is that y...

Been Tinkering
Hey All,I read on this forum somwhere that someone was going to try to adapt Mk2 Golf front struts to fit on our beloved Volvos.I've searched but cant find the thread. However, yesterday I was tinkering in the garage with some Mk2 struts that I had laying about and found that it would be a p@ss easy c...

Re: Damn that blower gone again.
Not to my knowledge, and I've seen many failed and bridged cut outs. For an ignition to take place (I know I'm being obvious) the heat source must exceed the combustion temperature of flammable material in the immediate area of the heat source. On test, with a stalled motor, the highest temp. I hav...

If you can feel the clunk coming through the pedal I would say that the bearing and diaphragm are on their way.

As muc as I appreciate the ammount of time effort and thought that is going into this project.
Have these cars ever caught fire from a failed thermal cut out or where the cut out has been bridged?

Re: heated seats
So the thermo switches the elements off at the ambient temp. When they are refered to as heated seats what they mean is seats that don't freeze or get colder than 15 degrees.I sometimes have a dodgy back and thought that I could loosen myself up on the way to work with the warmth.
