Re: Fuse box connector burnt.
I've done them in place before, there is. Don't chop too much more loom than you need, I only take off the crimp and any singed insulation (mostly around 5mm). I did a few at V3M meets when the thread first came about, just used to put the bits in the car whenever we had one!

Yes, Mac gets the plated bits replated and cleans up the castings.
Thoroughly enjoying driving it currently, it's running superbly I'm not used to this

Re: Fuse box connector burnt.
The tool doesn't have to be anything special, I have one like the blue one on here: https://www.vehiclewiringproducts.co.uk/c-1-home/c-51-crimp-tools/c-119-non-insulated-terminal-crimping-tools But the fiver one would work with a bit more juggling. The key is to form the heart shape with the flaps o...

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Whilst I was here, the choke light has been very intermittent on this car in my ownership. I have a spare cable but they are not common to fit, so I thought I'd see if I could clean up the contacts. Short answer yes. Long answer don't do it when you are tired. I manged to snap the male thread on the...

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
I am aware the last two posts are effectively me saying "I haven't done much on my own car recently, but look at how good a job other people have done!" so, I thought I had better get the car in a fit state to fit the carb. Well, I mostly did. Part of me wanted to put it in a glass display case and ...

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Whilst driving up to drop off the wheel, the car was smelling more of fuel than normal. It's always smelt a bit, but I've redone all of the perished hoses (in fact, I've done nearly all the non perished ones too, but not the one nearest the carb with the expectation of a rebuild in the future and it...

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Right, I've not been completely hiding! Rough time line, I decided to try to sort the steering wheel. The R - Sport wheels are a MOMO, so my following rants will be based around MOMOs build quality not Volvo's! Given how many of these are around, I wanted a proper job, so rang a steering wheel refur...

Info for the future, from this post: http://www.volvo300mania.com/uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=17778&p=195150#p195150 The round terminals are TE Connectivity 925663-1. I bought mine from ebay, but they came in a onecall bag with the label chopped off. The ebay listing I used is https://www.ebay.co....

Re: Fuse box connector burnt.
Hi all, Sorry, been hiding for a few weeks. I had to buy some of these a few months ago to add the dash illumination wire to the stereo connector (I super briefly mentioned it here http://www.volvo300mania.com/uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=5953&start=615#p194996 ) They are TE Connectivity 925663-1. ...

Great news, glad it's running again. I should have some carb related posting to do in the next week or so too

Hi Digger, they vary a lot by year, do you have a photo of your current one?

Re: 1.7 vapour separator hose routing.
Glad you sorted it. It changed on later B172s to a 3 port fuel pump (feed, return, carb) so if you ever need a replacement be sure to get the correct one!

Re: Anyone remember the ADO16?
They have an epic rust issue that has removed nearly all of them... subframe? A friend used to have a 1300 Traveller. Turns out you can fit a whole 300 interior, a fair amount of the engine bay and a few other bits in one on a scrappy trip

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Not much to add, but grabbed some parts from Fake recently to start sorting out the looks of the car. Jobs on the list are sorting out a solution for broken bumper clips (bumper side, they are plastic welded onto the bumper during assembly) and a bit of paint. The colour coded on Fake has very bad l...
