Re: Electric windows mirrors not working
Hello, you can take the motors off and open them up - the problem will probably be a lack of grease in the gearbox or there will be carbon from the brushes on the copper contacts to be cleaned off carefully. Fiddly spanner work and dismantling but it should cure it... http://i88.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: 1.7 seizing up?
Evil ideas. I tested the resistance on the red lead to the starter motor and it doesn't change when the engine is hot but in my density I forgot to check the earth lead resistance although I doubt there's a problem there because I sand-papered that one up like mad at both ends. So yes overheating, o...

Re: 1.7 seizing up?
Evil ideas. I'll dig out the multimeter and check the hot and cold resistances tomorrow. I did sand-paper all the connections and re-tighten them all incl. rubbing-off some new paint at the battery end of the earth connection but its possible there's a hidden problem with the live cable connection t...

1.7 seizing up?
Folks. You might remember the blue 1.7 in Hull that was on 'the bay' advertised as a serial killer's car, etc, etc, for half-a-larf. Well I think I might have found its dark secret because it won't start when the engine is hot. It starts fine from cold but when its hot the starter motor tries to tur...

Re: at the end of this thread my prop won't rattle any more!
I used to quite like the Mr Clutch logo - a man with a clutch for his head and the photo looks quite amusing too but I haven't got a clue what its about, having not watched telly in earnest since the early '90's. Yeah, a classic restoration spinout looks like an evil plan.

Re: at the end of this thread my prop won't rattle any more!
Awesome news. I never had a head for business and I've seen a lot go wonky so do take great care with all that dough. Don't be like Ken Dodd and keep it in the attic - mind you those dogs could defend it pretty well ;-0. Franchising any interest? You could be a Mr Clutch, like the people who did the...

Re: at the end of this thread my prop won't rattle any more!
CBA man it'll be the temp dial in the dash - happened to me on an escort which had perfect engine temperature but the dial read lower and lower as the years went by. I changed the dial and it suddenly gave the right reading evermore.... from memory, the dial has a resistance wire for heating a bimet...
