Re: Volvo 360 uprated clutch?

What torque wil it hold and what modification is required for the release bearing?

Re: Sluggish Starting after a run

A quick check is to pull the vaccum pipe off and check for fuel on the outside of the system, by smell or drips. Other checks are to open the fuel supply side and check for pressure (carefully) after say 5 mins.

Think I saw an 360 FPR on ebay the other day.

Re: Sluggish Starting after a run

It is likely you have a problem with the FPR (fuel pressure regulator). This should maintain pressure in the rail after shut off for about 30mins. If its not working and the pressure drops you will get vapour in the rail from the hot engine pushing the fuel back into the tank. If you can check the f...

Re: Creaking noise while turning left

Nice sleeper, did you keep the 340 struts?

For this noise, exhaust is usually the culpret for me, touches the chassis rail. It goes between the chassis and steering column.

Re: Volvo 340 1.7 splutters and cuts out

There is a review/summary on here somewhere for the ignition modules. Mainly differing by advance. It would best to keep the same one.

Good trouble shooting!

Re: Brake Upgrades

just for the record the brake pads I'm using for the Mercedes brakes are: EBC DP51170NDX Blue stuff NDX £68+vat+delivery No problems with cold bite, the system can't quite tolerate max braking on this track for too long, but its massively better and there is just a bit of high rate pad use (you can ...

Re: New 360 owner - SW Scotland

Emissions no, but do check fuel pressure, leaky cold start injector. Servicing is fine, but do thry to diagnose rather than replace random parts.

Crank oil seal is easy enough, I drilled it and put in self tappers to remove. But if its good again just leave it.

Re: New 360 owner - SW Scotland

Reb blocks can be a bit lumpy, not sure the reason, it isn't like a BMW or Japanese car. That said some run like clockwork. Injector seals I have never replaced and I've owned alot of cars with the same design, this is a low pressure NA system self sealing. The engine can manage a small leak, but do...

Re: Brake Upgrades

So the brake test track day went very well. No real brake problems to report, bit of squealing that reduced once run in and a bit of scoring which is common with high temp track pads (Blue stuff). Braking was achieved with increasing confidence mainly limited by the tyres and driver. https://www.you...

Re: Faulty propshaft, clutch or gears?

You didn't say it was a 340 or a 360. I'm guessing because they can see the prop it is a 340. The gear box is at the back in any case, if you mean the clutch housing then if its a 340 the clutchshaft bearing might be damaged. There are no moving parts in the 340 prop, it doesn't wear, don't take it ...

Re: Volvo 340 1.7 splutters and cuts out

Might not be your problem but a common issue is weak spark caused by oil in the distributor. Seal placement is critical especially if there is a wear lip on the cam.
Usual symptom is stalling when pulling off at junctions.

Re: Brake Upgrades

So finally got the strengthener fitting done to stabilise the weak disk face. I left some final machining to do a little detailing, but it turned out difficult to find a friendly machine to do this on. The laser cutting worked well and was fairly cheap. I'm using this as a drill guide so hole sizes ...

Re: 89 340 for classic trials

For my track days I'm using 15" alloy rims Rims: 15" wheels 6.5j x ET40, just a few mm clearance to the strut, but keeping the geometry such as scrub radius close to original. Tyres = 195 50 15 Yokohama ADO8s. With these tyres one of them skims the strut a little (on one side only). You can use whee...
