Re: DAF Party 2008 - Sauerland

It was indeed an excellent meet, quite chilly though, but it was great to meet you at last Tom, and finally put a face to the name! Some very good pics too, I really liked your 343, sadly I didn't get a great deal of time to look around it properly! I'm glad you both got back ok that night, despite ...

Re: 340 automatic problems

Hi and welcome! Firstly, where abouts in the country are you? As depending on where you are, someone might be able to take a look, if you're anywhere near Bucks or Oxfordshire I'd be happy to try and help. My first very pessimistic but often right hunch is that the garage doesn't know what they are ...

As far as I'm aware these temperature sensors will not be in any way affected by wind chill John, not entirely sure how that's measured other than on a calculation of wind speed and the temperature. Anywho, due to where the sensor is located, it is forward of the engine and when moving, the heat fro...

If Chris doesn't want them as I got them for him, but I think he solved his problems using other pipes, I have as much as possible from a 1.7.

Ah, not so sure then sadly, as if it had been just the hub without the spring, strut etc. I have a spare here, as I've already removed the springs and top cups from them. In that case, as another option, try George Mitchell who is in Dunblane, Friends of the Volvo 300, he can supply replacement spri...

I might be able to help...... which side, n/s or o/s, front left as you look at the car from the front?

Out of interest what's happened to yours to require a replacement?

Off the top of my head for non starting check the crank position sensor on the bellhousing, they can get dirty or gunked up.

That's a PITA James! So far, out of all the 300's I've got/had, none of the keys that I've tried have fitted another 300, which is in a way comforting, but theives often operate with one of those one 'key' fits all large object, aka a brick/hammer other blunt instrument. I have seen Montego's that c...

Bad luck FJ, but lucky they admitted to it. I do have a red bumper, from memory it is pretty spot on as well, it was a brand new one fitted to a car that had some damage once, so won't have been fitted to a car for all that long! The only problem is that large distance between where you are and wher...

Interesting, it's one of those fun looking vehicles that like every other vehicle I have would be different and have it's own unique qualities, but I can't really justify!

Sure there'd be quite a few people interested in it if they knew it was there, certain collectors or enthusiasts.

Hi Tom, I think Mac has given an incredibly detailled explanation, so there isn't much to add, other than, something that Will01908 taught me before I ever had a vario when he took me out in his low mileage Variomatic 340. The temptation in driving a vario for anyone not used to the system is to app...

What's the plan Stan? Weather has been pants and a lack of time meant I didn't get out for a shot, but if there was to be an extension I'd take advantage of that, if not, nee bother like!

Good work Tom! This is turning into Volvo's anonymous, my name is Pete, I also have a similar problem, and have been suffering for many years, recently, I even moved onto the bigger Volvo's! I think I now own 9 Volvo's. Nice looking car, a good polish and it'll be fine! Looks pretty sound, the rusty...

Nice one mate! That's the sort of news I wanted to hear, and had hoped to hear for sometime! You know you'd regret selling it! Glad you have found some space, just make sure it's in the dry when it's not being used!
