Re: 360 engine change

Just looking at getting a flywheel, not sure why I need a different one to the 360 one. The timing holes seem to be the same but I am just looking at the 360 manual renix timing diagram, for flywheel positioning. Won't the 360 sensor work with the LH2.4?, since I am keeping the 360 bellhousing. (sen...

Re: Rear wheel bearing

I have a spare Volvo bearing (double for 360) that I never used because I could not find anyone with a press to change it. In the end I just used a hub from a scrappy. Its hard enough to get the hub out, you need a huge socket and the right puller.

Re: 360 engine change

If I fit an adaptor to lift the turbo, how do you deal with the solid oil return feed, or does it need to be modified too?

Re: 360 engine change

Ok I've been convinced I need to turbo my 360 now. I have a 96 940 Turbo 2.3 FTP estate (the full car in fair working order, needs head gasket/skim, maybe turbo overhaul), and an 87 360 GLE saloon. I know both cars quite well for maintenance and am an Engineer, although of the electronics variety I ...

Re: Leaded or unleaded?

The B14.1E was in my 1980 345, but I never used it on unleaded. Volvo has been promoting low octane unleaded fuel for many years since it invented the cat, most cars do not need the lead for lubrication purposes, however according to Volvoclub the 1980 340 needs lead for this and cannot using anythi...

Re: 340 1.34 wont start when warm

Presuming its a later model with computer ignition, It would be unlucky but someone else found a faulty flywheel sensor recently (sticks out of the bellhousing on top). These can be temp sensitive but usually not over such a small range. If its very black and white not starting, and there is no spar...

Re: 360 clutch specs

I had to look very carefully clutches for my 940 Turbo, lots of varients. ECPs new database had some good info with all the diameters and chassis etc, but Sachs Web site was even better with spline number and so on. Access through: http://www.sachs-boge.co.uk/direkt.php?link=owx_54_161191_2_6_0_1984...

Re: Rear Toe...??

I 'found' this site recently while researching for restarting my 360 overhaul and was most impressed that someone correctly diagnosed the 340 1.4 breather restriction. I think it was on the later car with the combined T piece/restriction but never the less a very knowledgeable diagnosis without look...

Re: Rear Toe...??

Yeah, that was him - Tony Stanley. He also point blank refused to believe 360s ever came with AC. He seemed to like to know it all, and left after a while when he kept getting proved wrong  I'm sure it's possible in theory to 'bend' it back...but I think it'd prove easier just to weld it. chee...

Re: cough cough splutter vroom

It's actually working well now, I think I was just flooding it not being used to carbs. I do have another problem now though, it shudders under hard acceleration at first. So when I put my boot down it delays, like I've suddenly taken my foot half off the accelerator. Then suddenly like I've re-app...

Re: cough cough splutter vroom

The card supplies the fuel from the top so unless its cracked fuel should not leak into the manifold. I guess the float valve could be stuck allowing it to overfill and partially drain when standing, not sure if that can happen. What colour was the smoke - Black = over fueling Blue = oil, probably f...

Re: Are all short 300-series water pump pulleys the same?

I think the answer in general is yes for the B200's in the 360s, you will not want anything from a 340 1.4 or 1.7, totally different engines. Also the earlier B19 360s might be slightly different I'm not sure.

Re: torque tube dia. and center exhaust mount

Mine measures about 85mm, but my callipers are only just long enough to reach the middle point. The original works like a clamp rather than a 'hanger'. It would still move vertically then and rattle around and move sideways. You won't need it for a test I think but if you want you exhaust to last an...

Re: Wing mirror & radio

Did you get a radio? I have this one, push button FM works ok. No digital ones from the period AFAIK, in my 940 one part of the display has dimmed, and it loses stations when you disconnect the battery..progress?

Re: Rear Toe...??

I was going to do a fresh post about this, but found this one. I also have had alot of experience of axle bending and looking at various cars, changing axles. Etc. I have also have had the privilege of driving new 360 GLTs etc. I have spent the last 20 years trying to get my cars back to that. I am ...
