For info, my poor old blog got hacked (yes, even one about volvo 340's) and was sending out a trojan so if, by any chance anyone has looked at it since 20 Aug, please do a full system scan with your virus checker!!

Re: 340 1.7 GL Front Shock Absorber Struts
Hello, is it the cup that has broken off the strut?? If so and if we can find a cup or two for you, your garage could probably repair them, or Dai could anyway (talking from experience).

rust-ography
Just wondering if this type of rust under the front wings is reparable... http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k163/bogbasic/21082013008_zps5e8f0a80.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k163/bogbasic/21082013019_zpsbd2063b1.jpg ... it doesn't look too bad really but it goes through to the inner wing, ...

Re: EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT PLATE?
Hello, I would wait till the engine is cold and then wobble the exhaust plate by hand to see if its at all loose. The vibrating could be due to something else and you need to have a feel to be sure.

Re: Official V3M 300 Spotted Thread.
I really only looked at this thread yesterday after a mere 9 years on the forum. With only an alleged 800 of these cars still on the road and having not seen one for literally months (apart from mine, of course), I thought I'd check out a few I have seen around here in the last year or so. Now I do ...

Re: Highest mileage obtained from a b14 engine until actual
Wicked advice on the head. You've probably also seen this site..... http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/combined/volvo_340 http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/combined/volvo_360 ..... it makes a very interesting look at. There's got to be a reason for that fall-off given that most folk who had them, loved them, a...

Re: Highest mileage obtained from a b14 engine until actual
My dubious meaning of 'terminal' is that by the time the head gasket goes on a 340 or 360, the cost of having the job done by a garage is more than the value of the car, usually by a factor somewhere between 2 and 10, so the cars just used to get scrapped. However, I agree that it is hardly a termin...

Re: Highest mileage obtained from a b14 engine until actual
Well, the first thing to go will always be the head gasket and with yer average car owner that will be terminal.... get a new car. But if someone has the gasket replaced rather than scrapping the whole car (yes, there are nutters like that out there ;-)), how long the rest of the engine will go on f...
