CV joint uprating thoughts

My B230FT has just chewed through its first CV joint after a year of drag racing and track days. I may not have rebuilt it perfectly or maybe some damage I missed, but I gave it a good inspection. The other 3 seem fine. After some reading and inspection I believe that the cage broke and this is a co...

Re: 360 LSD.

Why is it only once per revolution? Is the hole not straight or something, maybe I didn't understand your explanation. Is one tooth missing the end chamfer? The diff relies on more friction and oil pumping to some degree by the worm gears to reduce the slip. Try taking the worm gears out, does it st...

Re: 340 redblock conversion

I have some concerns on the ability for that cross beam to take the weight and torque of the red block. Volvo intertionally did not do it that way. You are suporting the entire engine on 4x M8, and cantilevered. The 340 engine uses the cross beam, but also has rear supports. The cross beam has a ten...

Re: 4k mile 343 manual

The 340 is nothing like the 360 for unleaded. The early 1.4s had soft valve seats and a tendancy to burn even with leaded My B14.0 had soft seats, but you will probably have a later revision. I think the B14.4 was ok. Someone will know, or you can find it after a good search on here.

Re: Volvo 360 Ignition Sytem

The renix is very simple. It needs a signal from the crank sensor and power, then it produces output to the coil primary. It is similar to a set of points but with complex map for timing (based on rpm and load from the vacuum sensor). Crank it with the king lead close to a ground point. If it sparks...

Re: Brake Upgrades

So after lots of research and test buys I'm now on a solution for 15" wheels at the moment. This is easier Disk: Merc W168 A190 (276mm) Caliper: Merc W168 A160/170 caliper and carrier (for smaller disk) They use the same pads so the radius difference is ok for Mercedes. The disk gives a similar offs...

Re: Volvo 360 Ignition Sytem

The renix is very reliable, the fuel system needs its output to determine the engine is running and supply fuel.

You at least need to run spark checkers

What is a 'vacuum problem'?

An air leak is the mostly likely cause, but the AFM and fuel pressure regulator are also possible.

Re: Master cylinder

On the 360 its can also feel like air if the rear adjuster is not quite working right, mine are still a bit intermittent, even though all clean and assembled correct AFAIK.

Re: Master cylinder

Also the fluid can get locked in the resevoir if the seals between the resevoir and master cylinder have flowed into the master cylinder blocking the fluid entry.

Re: Mounting Powersteering

Did you get this sorted eventually your link is self referring :) I fitted PS to mine from B200K, there are some slightly different parts to injection models, but Aluminium bracket fits fine. Fits to the top 3 holes, not the bottom 3.

Re: driveshafts and other parts

Does the injection 360 use a different half shaft? Yes, it has 3 bumps on the shaft (for added pleasure) and a wider spined joint into the middle of the CV joints. The CV outer and balls seem to be the same. http://www.volvo300mania.com/uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15958&hilit=halfshafts Also the 3...

Re: driveshafts and other parts

Yes mostly common, just the engine is different, some slight difference on strut angles maybe. Not sure about flywheel and clutch. I guess you are talking about the half shaft / CV joints, yes all 300 with a carb uses the same ones including 360s The 1.4 auto uses a unique propshaft. There are more ...
