Re: Midas kit car RWD project
Hi, Matt was supposed to come over to see few things but he couldn't make it. So I worked on my idea instead. As I have said before, I'm thinking of using modified MX-5 rear subframe. I took my gearbox out of my workshop and placed subframe over it. http://i604.photobucket.com/albums/tt130/miniswift...

Re: Nimminz' GLT Daily
Hi,
Good job I'm not using a 360 engine then!
How heavy is a 360 engine? Is it a cast iron engine?
Anyway, if you need engine crane, let me know as I have 2 ton one in my shed!
Good luck Matt, sounds like you needed.
Cheers

Re: Nimminz' GLT Daily
Hey Matt, It was nice to meet you. Can you get me a front cross member? If you can get me one free, I will make it adjustable and your car can be a test bed. If it is successful, I can make one as an exchange base and sell it for £50. What do you think? If you want to go ahead with ITBs for your car...

Hi, OK, here goes. This is MX-5 suspension bolts. http://i604.photobucket.com/albums/tt130/miniswift/IMG00481-20111218-1616.jpg As you can see it is offset so it will make your bottom arm by in/out adjustment by 6+6mm. If you make plates welded to your bottom mounting points, this will make nice and...

Re: Nimminz' GLT Daily
Hi Mac & Matt, Yes what Mac is saying is correct. You will need to use correct tensile strength bolts, too. Do you have any spare front sub frame? If you do, bring it to me and I will mod it so that you can use MX-5 bolts for adjustable camber bottom arms. I can do it while subframe is bolt on but i...

Re: Torsen style LSD possible group buy
Hi,
I'm talking to the guy and he think for RWD, Torsen might not be the best one.
He thinks clutch types are. So I have asked him how much it will cost him to make one.
He is from Hungary so it might take a time but I will get one made and see how it goes.
Cheers

Re: Nimminz' GLT Daily
Hey Matt,
While you are doing that why don't you fit a concentric washers and bolt?
By doing so, you can make your camber adjustable. I have about 20 off MX-5 said bolts. If you come over to my house, I can show you want to do.
Cheers

Re: Midas kit car RWD project
Hi, I left my parts below to a machine shop so that they can mill it to fit nicely to each other. http://i604.photobucket.com/albums/tt130/miniswift/IMG00480-20111216-1154.jpg You can see that bell housing of 360 have been chopped and the other one is my half Gti gearbox casing. Those will be milled...

Re: Midas kit car RWD project
Hey Matt,
Let me know how much he wants for those parts.
It will be always good to have spares. This is why I have 3 Gti engines and about 5 mk1 Gti gearboxes!
Cheers

Re: Midas kit car RWD project
Hi, OK, the above photo is actually mk2 Midas. Here is my new car... well old but new to me. http://i604.photobucket.com/albums/tt130/miniswift/IMG00475-20111215-1213.jpg I think wheel base is 300mm shorter than 360 so I have to cut a lot out of a prop and a tube. It is a 2+2 setup but I think I wil...

Re: Midas kit car RWD project
Hi, I hope this below link works. http://www.cmmotorsport.co.uk/forsale/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Mini-Midas.jpg This is not actually the one but Midas mk1(Bronze) is this kit car model. I have to shorten the torque tube and propshaft. Then adapt MX-5 rear suspension/subframe to carry 360 gearbox i...

Re: What torque/power 360 gearbox can take?
Hi,
Once I pick up my bell housing which has been modified, I will take photos and start a thread as a project.
As I will be making PG LSD and so on for a 360 diff, it might be something people might be interested!
Cheers
Atchi
P.S. I got brand new clutch plate for 300 series if any one wants it.
