Re: 1.4 carb needed ASAP!! Anyone help?

Your symptoms certainly point to very weak combustion - either weak mixture (too much air or too little fuel) or just possibly a weak ignition spark). A poor spark will give similar symptoms especially the "breakdown" under load (above half throttle) - make sure the cap rotor, leads and plugs are al...

Re: 1.4 carb needed ASAP!! Anyone help?

An August 82 car should be fitted with a Weber 32DIR type 93-100 which as you say is a twin choke downdraft carb. Basically a good carburettor the DIR nevertheless suffers a number of issues that usually can be traced to excess air entering the manifold (unmetered) below the throttle plates or conta...

Re: 1.4 carb needed ASAP!! Anyone help?

You need to be a little more specific - since inception the 1.4lt has been fitted with a number of Weber 32DIR variants and at least one Solex. Are you talking about a 32DIR type 48, 57, 74, 75, 83, 85, 93, 94, 104, 105, 109, 110 or Solex 32SE1A - would need VIN. What is actually wrong with the carb...

Re: Engine paint

I've always found Frost stuff excellent - but as you indicate a little pricey! Falling down water and cats - an honourable combination. A 300 fan and a cat person - double wicked... I too am a cat person - one of mine (sadly passed some years now) was the most chilled ever (swear he had a stash some...

Re: That whining Mmmmm mm accc

It seems to have become very stiff and notchy and gives an "all or nothing" response. It may have become frayed but I'm getting him to check his engine earth in case he's tried to melt the plastic liner. It's been getting progressively worse over the last couple of months. As far as I know the plast...

That whining Mmmmm mm accc

Hi girls, a big thanks to everyone who responded to my need for 400 h/lamps - it's down to the ""customer"" now. But of course there is always another needy soul. One of my "regulars" and one of George's "friends of the Volvo 300" is now off the road for want of a throttle cable. Can anyone help wit...

Re: "Professionals" huh!

Don't apologise for being weird - weird is good, very weird is very good!

I hope I've been more wired for a lot longer than most here.

Do you still need the small grey knob? (Attached to a radio or otherwise) I should be able to assist.

Ah! The cryptic Bogbasic speaks. "Self portrait" - of whom? - Me perhaps? - where? - my avatar? (Yes that is me) But why Zebedee? (Off to bed) - Zebedee had no beard - !! Does my memory fail me? - did a Magic Roundabout inhabitant look like a 340 rear brake set? Or are the utterances of the Basic Ma...
