Re: '82 343 DLS saved from scrap, now with historic plate

AFAIK all Mk2 bodystyle 300's had fog light capability (didn't the 345GLS have them anyway?), it was just the sheet metal of the front valance that differed between what later came to be called 340's and 360's. Essentially, once the revised front end without the headlight cowl was introduced (what i...

Re: volvo 340 van conversion

I was going to say that it's definitely not a production series van as they were all lhd, 3dr and had no rear seats.

However, that doesn't stop it from being an officially sanctioned Volvo conversion (like the funeral cars) or even a 'one off' by Volvo special vehicles.

Re: volvo 340 van conversion

He insists on contacting the "Volvo club" whoever that may be, before deciding on a price. so I am getting the feeling he will want top whack for it. I wouldn't worry too much, I assume he means the Volvo Owners Club and their 300 series official is our very own Foggyjames who, despite his many, ma...

I definitely won't be there on the Saturday and it's highly unlikely I'll be able to make the Sunday. There's always next year.....

Re: Volvo 760 parts

I assume it's because the spokes on Virgos slant inwards towards the rim. The main 'hub' bit will cover the smaller discs but the slant is too abrupt to allow them to fit over the larger discs. Space the wheel out from the hub and the angle is such that it will now clear the calipers.

Re: Volvo 760 parts

It's not the ABS that's the problem, it's that Virgos won't clear the calipers. If you've got a 7/900 with the bigger brake discs (All 760's with vented discs, anything with ABS and 740 GLT 16v/Turbos) then Virgos won't fit.

Wittering on? The learned Gentleman and I are having an earnest discussion about the legalities of using this vehicle on the road in order to help any prospective purchaser, ensure its sale and thus fulfil the purpose of this thread and you accuse us of 'wittering on'.... You, sir, are a cad and a b...

Re: Another one point seven to save

Yes it did. The fact you have the old cert making it ok is a common fallacy. They never issued prohibition orders like they do with commercial vehicles, whereby once you fail that vehicle is not allowed on the road until it has passed (subject to driving to and from a test station or place of repair...

Re: Another one point seven to save

That's a fairly recent change then, because an MOT fail always used to cancel a previous MOT So your car is deemed to be unroadworthy by a DVSA (Formerly VOSA) inspector and is thus unfit to be used on the public highway. However, because less than a year ago it was deemed fit you can still use it b...

Re: Another one point seven to save

It's still legal to drive home if you day insure it. but it'd be a race against time to grab it before the test expires. Technically the MOT has already expired. It has failed a test and so is now deemed unroadworthy and the old, current MOT is now cancelled. Just because there is still a piece of ...

Re: 2014 BKV next Sunday at Hatton Country World

Not me.

I've had a bit of a fall out with the VOC and the dummy, pillow, bedclothes and teddy have well and truly been thrown. They're welcome to their field and a marquee as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Another one point seven to save

Has it had a tailgate respray at some point? Shouldn't the '1.7' badge be below the '340 GL' badge?
