Re: PLEASE READ.
It does open the question as to where the line may end up with "historic vehicles" and not. Electronic ignition? Radial tyres? I think that it'll be open to interpretation a bit. Safety. In Germany, installing seat belts where there were previously none at all is perfectly fine. LPG conversions and...

Re: PLEASE READ.
Just to get some things straight. The EU proposal is aimed at the harmonization of all member states' MOT equivalents . This is important and actually necessary: when I buy a car in Germany with 2 full years of MOT, and want to register this car in another EU state, I don't have to hand it to a loca...

Re: Daily 300's?
My 340 variomatic is officially a daily driver - even though it isn't used on a daily basis. And then there's my Daf and my motorbike eating some 'daily' miles if I feel like it. If I do 5,000 miles a year in it, it's a lot...

What a nice car!
Lots has been written on the Solex carburettor. Use the search function on the RH top corner of this page. A good thing to check is if the float still deserves its name (it often doesn't).

Re: Lulu the CVT rides again ;0)
But do remember that the trolley jack workaround was used on a Daf 33, where the springs in the secondary pulleys do not need as much force as those of the V300 CVT do...

Re: Variomatic pulley gap question
To get it all clear, what I mean is that you seem to miss the washer (the 'Magdeburger hemisphere' as I call it ;)) and that the locking nut isn't tightened. Certainly, it seems that my car is adjusted so that the primary and secondary pulleys are as close together as possible. That is correct. Ever...

1.5 mm is a good value. What surprises me however is this:

SO...(thinking cap on) why does she smoke the clutch in PARK when it should be stationary ?? I may have misread/misunderstood you here, but here goes nothing: please do bear (sic) in mind that the P position is no neutral position, it puts the primary transmission in reverse while immobilising the ...

Re: Variomatic vacuum valve - no overdrive
This is all taken from the V3C help page, Disconnect the connector from the tachometric relay. Switch on the ignition (no starting necessary), and attach one of the multimeter leads to the battery negative lead. Poke the other one into the connector at the connections summed up below (the connector,...
