Well there I was turning onto the wide bit of road and steadily increasing speed to about 55 and suddenly I get full twin carb glory sound and get promptly overtaken :), followed by horn tooting and then a high pitched noise as a type R goes past. :(

I saw the two of you fly off into the distance, but I stayed accelerating gently and driving sensibly sm63

You were both soon arround the corner and I lost sight... Glad to hear that you won :D

Chris...that was a bit subtle for me...but I have a feeling I ought to say "too much information"... :P

Haha.
"RAAAAAA"
"WHIZZZZ"
That's the sound of an old man in a Type R being taught a lesson.

Your old man must think I'm some sort of loon :) I don't blame you for driving that beautiful car gently...it deserves to be kept in that condition. For anyone who hasn't seen pics of Martin's car...it's in glorious shape - the kind of thing that would win prizes at the BKV.

cheers

That was the excuse was it? I thought it was because the carb flooded at low throttle. Ricers sm6

Anyway, the brakes in mine were tested to the max caused by a jam in which the car in front stopped suddenly and I had to give maximum brakeage. The sound from the tyres indicated I was just on the point of skidding, but luckily I was following from a safe distance and stopped with about 5 feet to spare.

Sounds like we all had an intresting trip home then, and no one/car was hurt luckily. I've just had a look at my (few) pics, not supreme, but I'll put them up in a min.

Thanks for the kind comments James, but I have to thank my Grandad for that as he looked after the car very well while he owned it :) It's not Volvo for life, it's Volvo for your life, and your son and grandson

As for driving carefully, just following my Grandads saying. Remember you may want to drive it again tomorow, and I don't want no driveshaft torque tube failing ;)

Well everyone drove pretty sensibly really, except for miror tire squeal and you being chased by yo bangin' Honda, and that was totaly understandable :D

I'll upload the photos sometime after picking out the best. The problem with digital is that you take far to many, and I'm on old 56k :(

Anyone wan't their identities to be kept secret :P

LOL, is there anything that you can salvage from the footage Foggy? I know there was one bit on the motorway where we went steadily by all of you, then you all went round the other side. And there's a good one of Steve flashing his lights and coming past. Not sure if I was ready for the squealy exit from the petrol station. But hopefully there is something useful. It was nasty in the lanes due to the bumps. Traffic lights reall weren't kind to us most of the time either!

Martin, your car is truly wonderful. The GLT spoiler lip on the saloon boot makes such a difference, and funny how they made the mistake in fitting it to the car! The car is a credit to your family.

At low revs it floods when you put your foot down :( Husky was free this weekend to take a look, but I had a certain meet to attend - same next weekend, then I'm on holiday! Look out for a medley of "James you prat" comments in the forthcoming video...it's quite comedy :)

Yeah, there's plenty of good footage...watch this space!

cheers

Hey I hope some video of James pumping up the tires on the car (Nessy?) gets into the video. I'll post a clip if you don't ;)

Some pictures

James trying to get the car started at Hugh's

A thresher at the show

There were a large number of fire engines, and a few police cars

And there were a heck of a lot of tractors. This is a bad panorama with two pics fixed together

Some of the cars.

The line-up :)

The usual suspects chatting about Volvos

The car reached 28,000 miles on the way home and I stopped at a car park to photograph it, but it was a bit late.
Image

I took a couple pics of the car while I was there as the evening light was very photogenic :)

Hang on, hang on, I'm checking it... ;)

:( The web site you are trying to access has exceeded its allocated data transfer.

After I spent that time uploading it...

Looks like I'll either have to get some other host, wait, or sent the photos to someone else to upload. I've got about 400Mb of photos and short clips of the day so if anyone want's me to send a CD and can upload some...
