Re: 300 series national event - September 2011
Bump.
This is planned to be a weekend event, so the idea is to have a "driving" day and a "show" day. Of course if the "show" day also involves driving, great
Plan A is to go south. The three options we've thought of so far for the "show" part are...
Haynes Museum (complete with track) in Somerset
Brooklands (complete with use of "the hill", and access to the banking) in Surrey
Beaulieu (complete with motor museum, but no action that I'm aware of) near Southampton
Plan B which was muttered about is to go north this year (ideas on a postcard...?) because Brooklands' calendar is more empty next year. You have to book the hill in advance, and pay a fair bit of money (for St John's Ambulance cover, etc) which is non-refundable if it's rained off - which would suck...making an autumn date more risky. There other concerns about "the hill" (ground clearance...and getting air at the top), which makes me tempted to save that one for another year while we work out the finer points.
Shall I set up a poll...?
cheers
James

Yeah might be an idea for a poll. I'd love some track action! Even if it is raining. Beueueueuelue has the attraction of a relaxing drive through the new forest. And there's always matchams oval track

Re: 300 series national event - September 2011
Alternating North and South doesn't help anyone in Wales or East Anglia as they still have a mega journey just to reach civilisation.
I say forget worrying about holding it close to members locations and just go for a good venue every year no matter where it is. Suggestions so far have been good, I agree about leaving Brooklands until next year though. I do like the idea of a Snowdonia trip - lots of great roads, nice scenery, Ffestiniog and other small railways and of course the Mach Loop. The downside is that there are no car related places to visit, but I can live with that.

Terms and conditions apply. This post may go down as well as up. Regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Hard hats to be worn. No reversing without a banksman. No admittance to unauthorized persons. Stop that. Put that down. Leave that alone.

It's unlikely to be in Wales (at least this year), but I fully understand the travel woes
This is why people like the Mach Loop... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-7zHlOi4T4
