Re: 300 series national event - September 2011
right guys,
I have asked about the use of the use of Langar airfield and it seems they are fully booked till xmas.
BUT....... me and a friend have been on a mission the past few days and we may of found an airfield close by!
We are going to the new location Sunday to meet the owners and talk about it. looks promising because its been used for motorsport events previously.
I will try and keep you posted guys.
cheers
Adam.
im going down on sunday to chat with the owners about use of the runway

Re: 300 series national event - September 2011
I heard from Adam that this didn't come to anything. I'd love to do it, though...one for next year? And Santa Pod...and a sprint track event (Curborough?)!
I called Haynes earlier (with a view to using their track to provide an 'action' element), but the track is fully booked until the beginning of September, when it shuts for 15 months while they re-build the museum. Frown. It was pretty horrendously expensive (for what it is) anyway, to be fair - £950 + VAT for the full day
Maybe another year?
Back to plan A then, I think, unless anyone has violent objections! Beauaueuieeleeee! http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/ I will post later / tomorrow to confirm, but date is provisionally 2nd / 3rd September.
Plan of attack for the weekend (like last year) will be something like...
Saturday AM: Assemble at pub ready for drive around countryside.
Saturday evening: Find campsite.
Sunday AM: Go to museum for line-up and mooch around.
...and we'll get on with planning something (or more than one thing?) more 'action' orientated for next year...
cheers
James

Re: 300 series national event - September 2011
Feel free...but bear two things in mind...
You need to be legal to drive the next morning, and if we think you're over the limit, we'll take your keys and stick your car on eBay.
If we're staying at a campsite like the one we were at last year, it's family orientated, and they only took us because we were affiliated with the VOC, and on the strict condition that everybody behaved themselves. If you drunkenly arse about, we'll kick you out, take your keys, and stick your car on eBay.

I've just provisionally booked Beaulieu (yes, the whole thing. It's mine!) for the 2nd October, which is the earliest date which suits both their calendar and the VOC calendar. I just need to check it suits mine, and that of the people of V3M, as I suspect that the majority of attendees will be from here.
The one thing that they did say was that they are expecting a minimum attendance of 10 cars (or thereabouts). So...if we're going to do this, we need confirmed attendees. I will hope to have two cars there.
cheers
James

Re: 300 series national event - September 2011
The plan is to do something oop north in the next couple of years, so don't panic if you can't make this. I know it's a long way and fuel isn't cheap. Might be worth checking out the campsite we'll pick, so see if they'll take you the night before, too. The place we stayed at last year was excellent.
The vague plan is either...
Mids, South, Mids, North, Mids, South, etc
or

I'll scout some campsites. Ben, if you do decide to make a longer thing of it, I'd almost be tempted too, I need a break from work

Count us in
Will have to be in Fraud again as 300 is in maaaaannnnny pieces.
We'll do our usual "crumbly" thing and find a hottle nearby.

Should be up for it, probably in the 340 for better fuel econ and not sure about getting the cotton wool around the 360 wet if it rains
Bit of a long way for caravaning it, but at the price of hotels it might be worth it. Tenting it is more tempting, less faffing about and more efficient fuel wise.
