i suspect that the manual will outperform the autobox by quite some way - if nothing else the closer ratios and lack of power-stealing torque converter will help
That is the intention anyway!!!
The auto box is out at the mo, but I ran out of time to get everything else done (custom parts as manual B280e's were never made!) before the meet so I had to take the 960. At a guess the 960 and 760 are as quick as each other, both being 170bhp autos of a similar weight. That gives me a rough idea of what the 760 would have done as an auto, so the next time we go hopefully she'll be manualised and knock a second of the time!

I think you're right there
I know what you mean...the complication is the gearbox (a torque multiplier), so the box only passes the engine torque (minus frictional losses) if it has a 1:1 ratio (4th on a 300). Then there's the diff, but never mind that.
The factors to consider are how widely spaced the gears are, and how wide the engine powerband is!
In practice....just see what works the best!
cheers

I completley forgot about the other vids shot on the little cameras when editing together the "hollywood vid" as i call it.
There will be another larger video available to the people there on the day that includes every bit of volvo racing footage. I will PM everyone with the download address when ive got round to hosting it.

Only 2 tenths slower than my best one (I don't know about the other 360s). It was noticeable just how well they got off the line....but then we knew that already! The only car I raced which could match me for the first couple of seconds was Griz....a 300+bhp MR2 couldn't. Whether that was due to Griz's fancy suspension, his good weight distribution, or me messing up my first run I'm not sure, but he was doing stonking starts all day - good effort!
Just a shame about what happens to the 360s for the other 17 seconds
cheers

Indeed! They were getting off the line very well throughout most of the day... apart from my run against you (typical). My best 60ft time was a 2.401. Funnily enough, that was also the run I crossed the line at 33mph because they aborted Foggys run.. I didn't bother going for it!

Excellent footage and nicely edited Chesh! Excellent bit with the "Errr where's Griz gone?!?!" "Ahhh he's waiting for a real challenge!" The vid for all there sounds great, looking forward to that! Once again, and great day, thanks to all!
