Cranleigh Classic Car Show

Post by RobT_75 » 15 Aug 2010 07:14 pm

Not sure if this should be in the general discussion area, but anyway. I went to this show in Surrey today as a last minute thing so the 360 wasn't in the display area, but it was a really good show with loads of variety from the big old yank tanks to my first love, British Leyland tin :)

The Volvo Owners Club had a stand and I'm glad to report there was a 340 GLE present! The 'mature' lady owner only bought it a few months ago from an old boy who was told to scrap it by the dealer he was buying a newer car from, he told them to stuff their opinion and he sold it on to her. I had a chat and she's really happy with it, and of all the cars on the stand hers was getting the most attention! It's got 120,000 on the clock but to look at it you'd think it was half that as it's so clean.

Some more pics from their stand. The red 240 GLT was immaculate, and the Leadbetters 140 estate from The Good Life fame wasn't half bad either.

And one of my favourites of the day, a shark nosed Beemer M6. Owned by a bloke in his 60s who came across as a bit of a playboy "O it's good for a ton all day on those trips I do to Provence don't you know"

Great pics there!

I have a hankering for a 262c........ I do like that Beemer 635 - probably the only BMW I'd ever consider! ( I will never forgive them for asset-stripping the Rover-Group )

Any more pics??

Same here, I have trouble reconciling appreciation for a BMW to what the b'stewards did to Rover. But these 635s are so bloody gorgeous you have to

I'll post up some more later, will be off-Volvo topic but we all like our cars here don't we.

You mean we are normally on topic?!

Theres an unwritten rule on V3M, if it's intersting, it's allowed. It's just we get to fight over whose definition of interesting to use ;)

There's a T-Gul one on eBay at the mo......

Surely the BMW is a 'normal' 635CSi with M badges? I don't ever recall the 6 series of that age ever having a M6 - I thought the top one was the 635Csi Alpina.
Terms and conditions apply. This post may go down as well as up. Regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Hard hats to be worn. No reversing without a banksman. No admittance to unauthorized persons. Stop that. Put that down. Leave that alone.

Cool. Well, based on my definition of interesting here's some more motors. Note the bias towards the 80s...

The A2A Quattro complete with signatures on the reg plate, I think being raffled for charity.

Restored mk1 Golf in the best colour I reckon

Love the wheels!

I followed this on the way to the show but couldn't keep up around the twisty lanes

If I had the bank balance I'd love an Interceptor. This was immaculate and had the original eight-track player and sheep skin seat inserts.

And a bit of posh DB6. I took this photo for the comedy value though, see the Aston owner in obligatory posh bloke's Pink Trousers
